I respect that he has a long and well-known family history that goes back to some of the first townsfolk in this area (1820s or so), but that thing is NOT crossing my threshold. |

Duckski was already considering places like Utah, Wyoming, and Montana, but Iowa is moving up the list as a strong contender. |

The big problem with places like Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana is that they’re getting a ton of the California migration, and that’s screwing up everything from politics to land prices. Iowa seems to not be getting much of that, but isn’t nearly as barren as Oklahoma. Still really cold, and there’s that whole tornado thing y’all had a while back, but it seems not terrible. I’d mostly be looking at the southeast corner, I think, but it all seems pretty. |

BTW: in Iowa that's going to be called an "acreage." I had to learn that term. That would be smaller than a farm. |

I hear you
For me it was kind of a circular thing. I pulled a long ass 8 year stint working all over the world and living overseas. One day I was in Egypt and I was like fuck this I need some land and a quiet place to live home in Texas. Bought the land and had a reason to buy nods. Started getting out more, hunting and meeting up with a number of cool arfcommers. I really don't remember when I've been this happy. Should have done this 10 or 15 years ago |

Another day over. I had to tell one Client why he should ONLY use the Ink/Toner sold by the Printer company. Canon, HP and the rest of the manufacturers don't make money on their machines, they make the Green on the ink, toner or whatever the printer uses. The printheads are programmed to KNOW if the cartridge they are feeding from is Genuine or not. I was once sent to a Certain Professional Baseball Team (ain't saying their name) to fix once of their printers. It was smudging everything up. I got there, showed them my Work Order and found the printer. It was insanely filthy. And I got to work cleaning the printer. Before I started I texted back: This is going to take a while; the printer is filthy beyond describing. I'll take pictures. On with the gloves and was shown a sink. We charged $45 per hour, plus if I go over more than an additional 10 minutes of the hour you're getting charged for the full hour. Clean and tell them to stop using the Proverbial "Brand-X" toner. It was guming everything up. Replacing pieces too badly gummed up to work again plus replacement cartridges eventually cost the baseball team over $1,000 before my time and a half was added. The fellow I talked to over the phone was lucky: He only had to shell-out about $200 bucks for new ink and a cleaning. Radiohead – High And Dry Radiohead - High and Dry |

Having noodles makes me just want to go walk at night all the time I'm currently in the same boat, but when we flee the people's republic in 2-5 years I'll be looking at 10+ rural acres. I want enough land to, at the bare minimum, shoot suppressed .22s and pistols. And do a bit of gooning. I'd like quarter section, but I don't have that kind of money. |
