Amish so pretty easy to figure out.

Tangent to this thread.

Did you really grow up Amish? (Did you never come back after Rumspringa?)

If so, please start a thread about that!  I think that is really interesting.  I do not know much about the Amish, other than what is see on TV and a time or two driving through Amish country.  I assume I have some bad info.

1968 Ford Country Squire station wagon and a Pontiac Tempest, I forget the year.
As I recall, the Pontiac was a POS, and the old man got rid of it. We had the station wagon until my sophomore year in HS (1980).

Dad had a 3/4 ton Cummins, mom had a couple different vans.

Eventually they bought a Corolla and a Highlander, kept those for awhile but then both ended up with Subaru Foresters.

They just bought my F150 because mom can’t stand the amount of space in the Subaru

'68 Pontiac Firebird and a '73 Suburban.
Dad was stationed in Germany and bought the car through the px. It was waiting for him at the dealer when he got home to Colorado Springs. He picked it up and drove back out to California where he was working before being drafted. When he and my mom got married a few years later, mom promptly claimed the Firebird as hers. So he sold his '57 Chevy that he had before the army as well as her Valiant and bought a '70 F250 which he later sold and bought a '73 Suburban.
Mom drove that car, with manual steering and manual drum brakes for 20 years before she bought a T-bird after dad died. The Firebird remained parked for a couple years until I got my license and I drove it to high school. I still have it.

As a kid my Mom had an Escort (wagon, I think), and a Taurus wagon.

My dad had all sorts of shit. A few 4cyl foxbodys, a Pinto, a 2wd 4cyl Ranger, a couple old Chevy pickups, a Willys pickup, a couple Bronco IIs, 68 International crew cab. When I was born I'm pretty sure he had a Mustang II, but it wasn't around long enough for me to remember it. That doesn't include his two toys, a 69 Roadrunner and a 56 F100.

I remember a 1968 VW Beetle, and later a beater 1969 Buick Skylark purchased used that smelled like cigarette smoke.  These were followed by a string of Buick station wagons. From the early 1980s until his death about 15 years ago my father drove a series of Cadillacs, ending with a Lincoln SUV of some sort.

I came home from the hospital in a '68 SS396 Chevelle, but it got traded off and the only memories I have of it are second hand. The first family car I remember is a '73 Chevelle. I remember when we rolled the odometer over in that beast. Later on Dad gave it to Grandpa and after he passed away he bought it back from Grandma and we went through it and I put another 100K miles on it. Unfortunately the last time I saw it was stripped down in a salvage yard. The '73 and later A-bodys don't have the aesthetics of any of the earlier models but for purely nostalgic reasons I would love to have one to play around with now.

We had a 68 Catalina that had replaced a 67 GTO (it always ran hot and dad traded it in) . I do not remember the GTO , I was born in 66. They both shared the Catalina as mom didn't work.

About 73 dad bought a 69 chevy pickup and mom got the Catalina.

Grandparents had a 70 Impala. Every vehicle they owned were Impalas.

Earliest car memories are my dad’s blue 1965 4-door Chevy Impala and my mom’s green VW Beetle.

I hated it when I got too big to ride in the rear storage area behind the backseat of the Beetle.

I also remember my father complaining about the poor gas mileage of the Impala in the 1973-1974 timeframe (OPEC embargo).

I was born in 1971, earliest I remember was an early 70's red Toyota Celica.  Pretty sure they traded it for the first 1976 FJ40 Landcruiser (red of course) and then that one got upgraded in 79 with another just like it.  Those were Dads, first car of Moms I remember was a mid 70's Pontiac Grand Prix, Red with White Pleather interior .  We had a lot of cool cars, Olds Toronado, RX7, Cadillac Coupe De Ville, Jeep J10 that I loved, various pickups.  My first car was a 1980 Scout II, black with white rallye stripe.  Man I wish I still had that thing and those land cruisers

Mom: '78 Camaro (bought new, 1st car I really remember her driving; she had an older Camaro before that, I think), '82 Riviera (bought used in '85, she drove it until after I graduated high school)

Dad: '77 Camaro, '87 Isuzu pickup (bought new, he drove it until he died in 2010; I got his Camaro when I turned 16...still wish I had it)

I was 6 years old in 1969, and we lived in a trailer similar to this about a 1/4 mile from the railroad tracks in southern Iowa.  My mom would have been about 21 and my dad would have been about 26 years old.  My dad was not very responsible and he had the two cars pictured below (not my pictures, I should see if my mom has any pictures left).

True story.

My parents always considered a vehicle to be transportation. Over the years my dad drove old VW Beetles, a VW bus, Chevy pickups, smaller pickups of various name plates, a Fiat that he absolutely hated, an old school Mercedes, etc. They only ever bought one new vehicle that I remember, and they drove that until the body rusted off the frame. He spent a good chunk of my youth restoring a 1930 Model A Ford Coupe. He later swapped that out for a '29 ragtop.
My mom eventually settled on Volvos. She liked the reliability, I guess. A string of Volvos for the last 20-some years of her life.

Also had a 58(?) Simca. Dad had a Simca 62 he put some mods into, duel SU carbs and stuff. English Fords, Anglica(?) and Auston of England. Many others. He put a super charger on the AoE. hot little car.

The first car I remember my dad driving was a barracuda, which was red with black interior.  My brother and I sat in the back.  If it had seatbelts were never wore them.  While dad drove we would jump up and down and yell faster Daddy, faster.  When dad slammed on the breaks we would tumble over the front seats and land on the floor in the front.  Ah there was no child safety in the 60's.  The next car my dad had was a 1972 Plymouth Scamp.  My dad drove this car until about 1980 when he bought an Oldsmobile delta 88 diesel.  It was my first car.  It was a horrible car, ran great but my two older brothers and I were all over 6' tall by 1976, it had black interior and no ac.  It made life in Southern California pretty miserable.  Every summer my dad would drive our family (5 kids, two adults) up to Oregon in what was essentially a two door car the size of a Toyota.  Dad chewed tobacco and I sat behind him and he was kind enough to yell Duck before he spit.  ahhh the not so good ole days.

Dad also had a nice 65 mustang fast back he restored since his side work was body work and painting cars

But overall they had many different cars of all makes.

(Early 70's) My dad drove a 1967 Pontiac GTO similar to this one. The vinyl top was white with a white interior. He installed Thrush side-pipes. I recall him taking us for a ride up on the new interstate. He came to a complete stop then dropped it. We about got sucked into the trunk. We couldn't lift ourselves off the back seat.
