I always called it a beanie or a ski hat. My Canadian born wife calls it a Toque

View Quote No, what you posted in the OP is a beanie. |

View Quote Yes, 60 years ago it was. Not anymore. |

Watch cap or beanie these days, depending on who I'm speaking with.
Stocking cap, when I was a young lad. |

Watch cap, although I personally prefer balaclavas.
I have great cold tolerance on everything but my fingers, nose, and ears. |

That is called a knit cap, or watch cap.
A beenie is the same style but made from fleece. Anyone who calls that a toboggan is a poorly bred rube. Anyone who calls it a toque is simply retarded. |

Grew up in Massachusetts. That's a "ski cap", though if someone called it a "wool cap" I would know what they're talking about.

Stocking Cap
But I am trying hard to adopt Toboggan for fleece skull saps |

Watch cap is what my grandpa always called it. I had to join the navy to learn where he picked the term up.

Been wearing this for twenty-three years.. I get a lot of favorable comments.....and even more incredulous stares. Shall we say, it's probably not for everyone. http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc18/Babo47/8fb3bb96de54049fbd7a6d7c28d0cf5f_zps1d331ea2.jpg View Quote Do you pay a guy named Watson to follow you around while you wear that? |

I would think that a hat like that might even earn someone an ass whooping in some places. |

No, it's definitely toque or tuque, depending on how Canadian you are. Touk is not a real word. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Touk You spelt Touk wrong. No, it's definitely toque or tuque, depending on how Canadian you are. Touk is not a real word. This. |

Quoted: To expand on my earlier post, the picture you posted is a stocking cap. This is a beanie, same idea, but different. Beanies don't have extra material to fold over, they are essentially just a skull cap. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a58/CB-AARON/images_zps9c222f77.jpg View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: Stocking Cap To expand on my earlier post, the picture you posted is a stocking cap.
