durian candy is top of the list, anyone who doesn't have it at the top of the list hasn't tried it.
candy corn is first thought though.

love black licorice myself, but for sheer "worst to consume" category is jujubes. they have some evil sort of "bite me then struggle to release your jaw consistency"

This!  My dad was born in 1910, he'd occasionally get the urge for horehound candy.  Couldn't stand the stuff.

I liked candy corn when I was a kid.  This was long before HFCS was a thing.  I would occasionally buy some black licorice, not that I liked it--I'd pretend it was chewing tobacco and spit the black juice all over the place.

We used to shoot those as targets with pellet guns when I was teaching my kids to shoot. They bust up nice.  And no I’m not claiming we shot them in the air.

I like candy corn, but I think most of that is due to childhood nostalgia rather than it being actually good.

The worst candy I've ever had was some of that weird Scandinavian licorice flavored with ammonium chloride.  Normal licorice is at least edible, but not something I'll seek out.

Mix candy corn with salted peanuts.  It tastes just like a payday candy bar.

Circus peanuts are disgusting.

The wintergreen candies are made from Pepto Bismol.  I can see why some people like them as medicine flavored candy seems to be a thing with people.  Cherry Starburst are an example.  Taste just like cough syrup.  I wish they would bring back the lime flavored ones.  UK Starburst still have them.

They disappeared in '18 when Necco went bankrupt.  Another company (Sparklers, Spanglers, something like that,) bought the machines and recipes and started making 'em again....in '20, when some weird crap happened all over the world.  I'm guessing that's why they're scarce.

Yeah, candy corn is more of a Halloween nostalgia thing for me than anything. As per your recommendation, I have mixed them in a small bowl with roasted peanuts in Halloween season for my family and I, back when my kids were young and it improved the taste significantly.

Worst candy for me, since I was a kid, is those small, different colored "traditional Christmas candies". I've never understood the appeal. Seems like one of those strange, rather meaningless traditions of something not intended for human consumption. Just like parsley sprigs served with meat dishes when I was a kid growing up in the 1960s.
Back then if my parents or grandparents ordered steak in a restaurant it always seemed to come with a very small amount of parsley on the side. I can recall seeing parsley come on plates at restaurants - but have never seen the parsley eaten. Iirc, my mom once told me the parsley was to cleanse the palate. I think the ginger that comes with sushi does a better job.
