Under $30?

I have had expensive, and it is great! Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban, The Macallan 18, ect Fantastic! Usually worth the money

But, just like beer, I have my expensive fancy micro brews and my homebrew, and I have just a generic, cheaper, but still good, regular beer.

For me it is Forty Creek Barrel Select. A Canadian whisky. Smooth, nice flavor. Very drinkable. Usually about $20 a bottle.

What is your go to "cheap" whiskey/bourbon/scotch if you have one?

Ancient Age Bourbon is my go to cheap whiskey. I think it's $15 for the big bottle.

Bulleit or Buffalo Trace.

If you can stretch that to about $33, Elmer T Lee single barrel. But I can't find that in OH, just KY.

ETA: haven't found a cheap Scotch I like but I'd be open to suggestions..

For real "cheap" Beam or Evan.  My favorites are in the next tier up--MM, BT, KC, Bulliet, Woodford, etc.  Cheers.

Glenmorangie

A ten year old single-malt highland scotch that is actually pretty good. It is the best selling Scotch in Scotland. A bottle can usually be had for around $30.

After convincing myself that cheap bourbons are just as good, I went and bought a bottle of Woodford Reserve and it was so good I almost accidentally the whole fifth in one sitting.  So be careful out there.

OP listed mine. For the money, Forty Creek is unbeatable.

However, it is my duty to inform everyone that for around $40, Copper Fox Rye is the best whiskey on the planet. The problem is getting it, since they don't ship it anywhere. It has a better flavor than any whiskey I have ever tasted.

Jameson, Jack Daniels

That is what I order when I'm out.  I don't buy it for the house.

New Amsterdam Gin is what I drink around the house.  $25 a handle

Try the 2 Star bourbon, found it at Total Wine.  Not as good as Buffalo Trace but when you need to pinch pennies it is pretty good.

It's slightly outside the "Under $30" dictate, but Balvenie 12-year Doublewood can be had for under $40 if you shop around.

It's my everyday Scotch.

Negative, it's made by Jim Beam, it's not bad, decent for a mixer.

My cheap bourbon is W.L. Weller 90proof/7year at $12 a fifth. It's cheap here, Ive seen it in other states at 20-25 a bottle.

I love this stuff.

As for cheap I use Beam and Jameson for mixed drinks. I never drink cheap neat.

Here is a other good budget single malt.   It about $40.

My favorite at 50-60 is Dalmore 12.
OP, you mentioned you like Macallan 18.
Try the Glenlivet 21 sometime.    30 dollars cheaper and I like it a lot more.

Depends on your definition of cheap.
Dollar for dollar, I would go with Old Grand Dad - Bottled in Bond.

For a little more, I would go with Buffalo Trace.
