Quoted: You say cock a lot. I don't think liberal or democrat is a good way to describe Putin. Criminal? Dictator? Tyrant? Thug? Yes. Liberal? I don't think so. Russian's in general don't play around with the SJW nonsense like we do here. ETA: Democrats support many commie policies! In what specific ways does Putin's policies make him a liberal? He's POS and so are liberals, that doesn't make them the same kind of shit though. |

Best case scenario:
He is a scary thug who felt the only way to help his nation transition out of communism is through strongman (classic) Russian leadership. It's possible he loves his nation and people but also has no problem killing anyone who get's in his way. |

Those in this thread that are half-literate and looking to gain some real knowledge, I'd suggest you take a look at "All the Kremlin's Men."

He's also a Russian patriot. He loves his country as much as we love ours. Everything he does is calculated to benefit him or Russia. Or both. He never does anything that he believe will harm Russia even if he personally would benefit from it. He's been consistent about that. He's as ruthless and brutal as he needs to be in order to achieve his goals. Don't underestimate his ability to be ruthless and brutal. View Quote Lets just ignore history and his own actions and fallout. |

The same as they always have... Korea, Cuba, Vietnam, Iran. Proxy wars with them providing the arms, training and money. Russia, China and the US all know there's nothing to gain in another WW. We'll settle our differences on other peoples soil. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Ruthless, heartless, smart, and perceptive. He won't sit by and watch his nation get the short end of the stick.
He's like a viper. We could never trust him. He would never help us unless it was in his best interest to do so. |

The thing I find interesting about Putin is that he just came out of nowhere.
Nobody heard of him, and then there's a political party machine behind him out of thin air. Does he run for election? Nope. Yeltsin just hands the government over to him one day, magic! Jan 1, 2000 Boris N. Yeltsin shocked his nation and the world today, announcing his resignation as president six months before the end of his term and handing over power to his favored successor, Prime Minister Vladimir V. Putin.
Mr. Yeltsin, 68, concluded his political career on the same note of surprise and high drama that accompanied his entire path from early convert to perestroika to erratic master of a free but floundering Russia. The man who became the first senior party boss to quit the Communist Party, who faced down Communist plotters from atop an armored personnel carrier and signed the breakup of the Soviet Union, chose a historic New Year's Eve to make his grand exit, and to try to assert control over a succession battle that could determine Russia's course for years to come. By appointing Mr. Putin acting president today at a private Kremlin ceremony with a personal blessing by Aleksy II, patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, Mr. Yeltsin seemed determined to try to put a lock on Mr. Putin's succession to the presidency in an election that will be held three months from now, on March 26, in accordance with the Russian Constitution. Mr. Putin will also remain prime minister. View Quote |

Here's what you need to know about Russians...
1) They blame us for their fall in 1991. They take it personally and they blame us, even though it wasn't us. The Soviet system was rickety and it was not going to last. 2) It irks them to no end that they don't have a seat at every table. They're in many places such as the UN and some trade organizations, but not like us. Big brother little brother inferiority complex. They don't have vibrant economy, but they get by with less. 3) They may not be commie anymore, but they still love central planning and iron-fisted leaders in power. Freedom appeals to them much less that a strong leader. Tough to fathom from where we sit, but it's true. 4) They will never be our friends; they would only pretend to be our friends to bury us. This will be a rivalry for the next 500 years, but not a kinetic one, just a cold one. 5) Baltimore, Ferguson, the racial and other divisions in our society, the shit stirring... they have a hand in it. They don't start it, but they certainly amplify it. Disinformation is their forte. Why? The weaker and distracted we are, the better outcomes they have. |

To understand Putin I will suggest a few documentaries: Vlast,Poisoned by Polonium and Putin's Kiss. If he was a patriot who loved Russia he would not be a kleptocrat running the nation as a mob boss, unless our definition of "loves his country as much as we love ours" is much different to mine.
