Zombie (1979) directed by Lucio Fulci is the movie you seek.
Even has a zombie fighting a shark, which is one of the coolest zombie scenes ever in my opinion. ETA: Does have a little nudity in it, just FYI since kids are watching. |

Quoted: Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse is one of the more fun zombie movies I have seen in a while. I really like the tall blonde in the movie. The mention of zombie strippers reminded me of this one, since it too features a zombie stripper, and all movies are better if they feature at least one. View Quote The Walking Deceased has zombie strippers. It's a spoof of most of the most popular zombie flicks. Here is the full movie for free on youtube. Failed To Load Title |

I have not seen them all, but my favorites are I Am Legend and World War Z

We need to have a serious discussion about if thermal would work on zombies or not.

I can’t decide but either 2004 Dawn of the Dead or Zombieland.

Not a zombie flick but if you really want to scare your kids or most adults watch The Descent. College friends explore an unexplored cave system only to find out something else lives in the cave. Very graphic but no nudity or anything like that. Even the second one was good.

Quoted: 28 Day. It's pretty fucking harsh and would easily scare the shit out of me if I was a kid... ETA, yeah, it's more of an "infected" vice zombies, but still pretty solid. Black summer was a fun series. Hope they make more |

Night of the Living Dead, original and remake (Tom Savini really did a great job).
Modern zombie movies and shows always drop the ball, always have characters do incredibly stupid things to put themselves in peril. Still waiting for Steven Kings ‘Home Delivery’ to be made into a movie. Fuck SK, but it was a cool story. |

Hard for me to pick best. 1 of three maybe
But I’m putting this up as most underrated Land Of The Dead (2005) - Official Trailer (HD) |

The Crazies remake.
Dawn of the Dead remake was pretty good too. 28 Days Later. Black Summer on Netflix is a pretty damn good zombie show. Much more realistic than TWD. |

28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later.
Shaun of the Dead is also awesome. Whoever said World War Z should never be listened to. |

Word War Z (the book), was fairly good. It was a intended to be a (fictional) documentary written towards the end of the Zombie war. It compiled first hand accounts from individuals around the world. It was presented chronologically, but each chapter was a different story in a different place. The author was trying to explore how the people of different nations would respond differently. I don't recall all the separate stories, but do recall it kind of went full circle - it did get back to the US, but I think it might have been to look at the difference between US city culture and US rural culture-which almost describe 2 different Americas. Hollywood took the name, and maybe 10 seconds from the original material. Honestly, the book would be a pain in the ass to make a movie out of, and expensive to make a series out of (although that would at least work). Every story in the book had it's own individual characters and location. If it was done as a series, each season could be its own story - but you just could not compress it into a movie format. It was one of the worse adaptations of a book I have watched. But Hollywood had to do a goverment will save you with a covid vaccine type movie, rather than people will prevail when goverment fail or abandons them.
I came to post Dead Snow. Not the best, but a very fun horror flick. Many newer Zombie movies kind of suck. They are supposed to represent the dread of impending doom - not be war flicks with fast Zombies. A different look that I laughed at was Warm Bodies. We all are just zombies after all. |

I also enjoyed Army of the Dead. Yeah, Bautista is a liberal bitch, but the movie was good for an afternoon of entertainment.

I was really jaded by all the zombie movies but the zombies in WWZ actually made me jump. The speed, ferocity, and single minded focus to spread the infection freaked me out. Lots of movies give you time to think "that's lame. I would have done that different " but in Z no one had time to react to attacks.

Return of the Living Dead is my pick.
Not the Romero type of zombie movie, but The Serpent and the Rainbow is worth a watch. |
