Just caught my first this morning, barely hit the legal limit of 36" for the current season. Close to 37", ...but not quite.

What's GD caught?

Not sure of length.
When I was working in Sacramento I caught many that big.
Locals said they were ocean going stripers coming up river.

Eta. Stripers...not strippers .

Several years ago, I caught a 41" off the coast of Nantucket.  Since then, nothing larger than a 26".

There are usually a couple big ones on the day shift mid-week. Those are the least desirable shifts for the dancers, so the high earning hotties don’t want to work them.

There's some big ones in the Colorado, but Mead has so many most of them can't get enough food.

They're destroying the other fish populations, too.

Roughly the same size as yours.

When I was a kid we had a spot where we could each catch several stripers that size every night drifting clam bellies or grass eels during the fall season right off the rocks.

220 pounder on amateur night at The Sandbox in Honolulu.

Threw that bitch on the floor.

Big fish, eh? Nice catch.  Now go deep sea fishing and have some real big fun.

Wow.

One of the guys down where we were (VA side Chesapeake) caught a 43" one this weekend.

I was reading about them, apparently the Chesapeake is one of the best spots for them in the US, even though they are EVERYWHERE in the country. It's a large spawning ground I read.

i caught a huge (almost 40") off the tip of sandy hook, while drift fishing for weakfish. there's a really deep "bowl" underwater, right off the tip of the hook, and drifting across it while fishing the bottom produced some pretty big fish.

I went once for a bachelor party.

The bachelor hooked a White Marlin but failed to maintain line tension and it got away. I got to see it jump though.

I'd love to fight one of those.

This was my first time out for these, so I don't mind looking ignorant, because I am.

Do all the big boys always hang out in deep water?

My buddy just bought a river house and boat. He befriended a few charter guys and they share with him where they're having success.

(I guess for them the idea is to hit your limit early, then head in, so they don't mind sharing good spots amongst each other.)

To hear my buddy tell it, there's "hot spots" for lack of a better word.

42 pounds on an eel out of Montauk, NY.

I “think” I had a lifetime goal of a 50 in an inlet on the south shore of Long Island but that big sum a bitch busted me off during the first and most impressive run off

Going by my chart that's about a foot longer than mine.

45" or so, right?

Funny enough we brought a tape measure but forgot the scale.

There are 30-40 pounders running in the northern Chesapeake right now.

I’ve got to get out sometime this week.

It was really fun. I'm hooked. (Pun intended)

Trout and bass are fun, but these guys are great.

I also really want another shot at some deep sea.

Fishing is so great.

47 pounds slinging eels off the rocks in Montauk on the last day of the season (December 15) during a nasty Nor'easter. It was in the mid '90s. Called in sick from work with another co-worker. He caught a 50 1/2 pounder. Some dude in the parking lot took our picture and we got busted when he published it in the newspaper! Used to surf fish constantly when I worked down there.

We used jigs.

Are eels better?

We ran 5 rods, and I went off my buddy's advice.

Usually the middle to end of November, the worse the weather the better the fishing if you and the boat can handle it.  Live eels slay them, but you can cast a two ounce bucktail with a white or green mr. wiffle on it and do well bottom bouncing.  If it hits on a full moon oh boy.

Didn't know that, but after I got interested I found out the Chesapeake is one of the best areas to catch them.

Well worth the drive.

I love fishing, I need to get out and do it more.

This trip reignited the fire for me.

Couple friends, some sandwiches, some coffee and beers, lots of bullshitting and big ol fish.

What's not to love?

Outside of Thanksgiving I got nothing going on.

Wow!

I'm a newb to this, but man is it fun pulling them in.

I love fishing.

I'm gonna cook up a filet tonight, but i'm tired and probably won't do a dinner pic.

Are they really good eating? (Compared to other common fish you'd buy)

Caught many many in the 20-30lb range. Haven’t broke the 40lb barrier yet.

Maybe this year. The trophy killlers are making it hard. It takes a long time for a female to get over 50lbs and a lot of those that do get caught are killed for a quick photo and bragging rights at the bait shop then end up in the garbage. Big fish like that taste terrible.

But anyway.
