Most amazing "long-range" shot I ever saw - my little brother hit a man-sized silhouette at 100 yds, with a Kel-Tec .380. View Quote That's good shooting, with that gun. Another thing I want to try-unlikely I'll ever get the chance-is to shoot as if I was qualifying with an M16, on a military range, with my M1. |

1600m w/ M2 but was cheating with a CROWS system. 600m with my M4/Eotech, standing - Military. As a Civ, 800 yards with my SPR-ish rifle w/ 77g handloads. I need to get something larger. Maybe time to dabble in .308's.

Hit a man size target at 1400 yards yesterday three time in a row with a 10 MPH, full value wind.
Of course, the owner of the very expensive rifle I was shooting had just spent an hour dialing it in so I really do much work. Still, it was pretty satisfying. |

3,000 yards with a 50 mph head wind and a 30 mph side wind. all shots were 2 moa.

Wish I knew.
I shot at a cave and a few rocks in Afghanistan with a Barret .50 (for fun). It went far, and took a long time for the sound of the impacts to travel back to me. |

1000m
.50 cal Best part..........ammo was SL '44. Salt Lake City, 1944. Went boom every time. " /> |

Further than most. I shoot out at Black Rock Playa on a regular basis. Want to see how far a 22 will go? http://i1303.photobucket.com/albums/ag160/Dan_McVey/e8d2e2f678ba4eab2659f89c641a66e0_zpscc9c9777.jpg View Quote But can you hit a vehicle going mach 1 with it ? |

I flew mail out to the USS Iowa in 1986 off the coast of Honduras. While we were there we shut down and stayed for a gunnery exercise. Main guns were reaching out like 20 miles if I remember correctly. Thats some long range shooting

Not Military, just some dude:
650 meters - standard AR carbine (M4orgery). 1000 yards - .308 bolt gun 1200 meters - .50 Barrett Almost all of that was on a coworker's ranch in Texas. Around home the farthest I typically shoot is 300 yards. |

Civilian - 1080 yards with custom Remington 700 in .284 Winchester/Huskemaw scope on a private range.
Shot to 600 yards regularly in service rifle matches on an Army Reserve rifle team in the early '90's with both M16a2's and M14's (all iron sights) . |
|
Small arms? 600 yards as a civilian.
Crew served weapons? IIRC some of the targets Table II for 7.62 were out to 800m, for .50 cal out to 1500m |

300 yards with another memebers 308 savage bolt gun using a can with sub sonic ammo. 3 out of 5 hit the steel.

Civilian.
~1100 meters, steel silhouette. SR25. 7/10 hits. ~850 meters, steel silhouette. LE6920, plastic handguards/A2 FSB. 26/30. Won a steak dinner on that one. |

1k yards private range regularly in comp, open and optical sights.

1200 yards. Utah and I hit the target. Never mind it was a mountain I was aiming at.... No, seriously, I was 18 and shooting a .300 Winmag for the first time.

Civilian
A club I belonged to In NY had 1,000 yd range. Switch barrel rifle 6.5 X 284 and .308 barrels |
|
300yards. Range is currently building a 400 yard line with plans to open. It all the way to 1000yards. Not that I would be able to hit anything that far, but given the opportunity I wouldn't mind learning.

When I was 19, I did a guy in Laos from a thousand yards out. It was a rifle shot in high wind. Maybe eight or even ten guys in the world could have made that shot. It's the only thing I was ever good at.

300 on pop-ups in the service m-16A2
800 was MUCH easier With the m-60 and tracers ***edited for poor shift usage.*** |

I've never been a big long shooter but maybe we will see an increase in ban states. I've only shot out to 650ish at a class View Quote A few thousand yards. Hit every time. TOW missiles though, not bullets...... |

500 yards, iron sights, Marine Corps known distance qual range

Ground hogs at around 300 yards. I've shot longer distances but not really well. A lot of that is the fact I've never had a legitimate 600 yard rifle. That window of accuracy gets mighty small the farther out you place it.

|
+/- 700 yards, civ, at my Uncle's goat ranch in TX. shot a small mesquite bush at the base while sighting in his rifle.
Pure luck,no skill. |

2000m at Ft Drum as a civilian for Barrett using experimental Winchester 50 BMG ammo out of the XM107 for some Pentagon types when the XM107 was first getting accepted.

A couple of months ago I shot a prairie dog at between 325 to 350 yards. I have hit steel at over 600 yards, but my prairie dog hit was much more gratifying.

500 yards USMC.
700 as a kid. We made a steel target that hanged from a frame and the aiming point was actually on the frame. Used a 22 to bang the gong. |
|
979 yards.
Small whitetail doe. 30-06 165 grain gameking (I think) Where? Across a big holler. Why? 20$ And deer jerky |
