Boost has a bunch of phones that use 4G for data but 3G for voice. If yours is new enough it's possible they can just give you a new SIM card. Log into your dashboard and they'll prompt a chat window where they can check your existing phone. New SIM is free if compatible.

Depending on the age of your home alarm, your home security company should be pestering you too. If you have a cell based home alarm that you or a local company installed, but you contracted out/signed up with a monitoring service, you may want to check your specs.
ADT is blowing my phone up about it, but I think they want $150 for a new module. |

Quoted: I thought I heard on the radio it had to do with interference with 5g. Not sure I believe. View Quote They need the bandwidth used by 3g. I thought it was common knowledge that carries were phasing out 3g in a week or so. If you have a Subaru with their safety plan, like OnStar, they were replacing the 3g modem with a 4g modem at no cost to you as part of their service. I thought that was pretty good support. Did other car makers do that? |

If your jitterbug is going to die when 3g goes off, the 15 year old battery is probably shot anyway.

We're going to have to buy two-way radios for the farm equipment this spring as we can't rely on phones on 4G. |

It's been "off" here for over a month. Our alarm system had a 3G antenna that went down Jan 1st. Finally saw the notice that it was no longer connected and got a 5G replacement. Great communication from the monitoring service. Only had the system down 3-4 weeks before anyone notcied something was wrong.

Quoted: OP still has a rotary house phone too View Quote Don’t laugh. I have a neighbor in their mid 80s and their landline was an original AT&T dial phone. A friend helped them replace it with a touch tone phone but it converted the tones to pulse dial. I was visiting them when there was a call but the caller ID did not work. We both have the same voip service from Xfinity and my caller ID works fine on both my phone and TV. |

I had to take our company's Nissan Leaf in to have the 2G modem replaced a couple/few years back. Hopefully they didn't replace it with a 3G modem. It's a 2015 model. I was kinda surprised they were still putting 2G equipment in them at that point. |

Quoted: Considering it has been out for 13 years... and it's replacement has already been in use for 3... Long enough for critical equipment it relies on to be upgraded, would be my guess. View Quote I don't expect to see it in my area. Rural coverage has been getting worse and worse; we're gradually going back to two-way radio. |

I am not saying to buy a new one, maybe ask a friend when they are out by you. Verizon and AT&T both have coverage maps which would be a place to start. |

The only way this effects me is my JD Link on our tractors will also quite working. Will have to upgrade all the tractors in the fleet to a new modem if we wish to continue using JD Link. Not sure its worth it

T-Mobile is even at 600Mhz (lower the number the better it penetrates) Verizon even uses 5G on 1700-2100Mhz same as 3G. The super fast MMwave (28+ Ghz) 5G does have penetration issues. |
