If SHTF, I'm rocking a pressure washer gun to clean up all the S that HTF. Not touching that biohazard.

The one I usually grab for hikes and home defense. Weighs in at a little under six pounds.

Could you be more specific about SHTF?  Like is this the GF finding out about the other GF?  Is this McDonald's running out of Frappes? Is this Domino's running out of Pepperoni?  Man, that's not enough details?

A purpose built 10/22 with this very scenario in mind. Its not tacticool, but built for reliability and putting food in the pot. Im worried about actually surviving, not having a fantasy rolling gun battle.

For short term shtf, like a natural disaster or or prolonged power outage , one of my AR's. Probably my 10.5 inch with an Aimpoint Pro.

For long term , apocalyptic type shit, I'm not really sure I'd want  something with an optic that relies on batteries. Just one more thing I'd need to stock/find.

PSA 10.5" CHF Premium upper on a PSA M4A1 lower with a Fostech Echo binary trigger equipped pistol.  I've put enough 77 grain IMI RazorCore Mod 1 ammo through this to know it's 100% reliable.
If I get it wrung out soon enough to be considered 100% reliable with IMI M193 ammo, the pistol could be replaced by a PSA 14.5" P&W CHF upper, also on a PSA M4A1 lower with a Franklin Armory binary trigger equipped carbine.

556, 308 or maybe 762x39. Chambering matters because you need to be able to fine and use any ammo you can find.

nothing else is a valid answer for a SHTF rifle.

For now, my PSA 16" carbine gas with Primary Arms red dot, Primary Arms flashlight, and Pmags loaded with 64gr Gold Dots.

When my Geissele Super Duty rifle finally comes in that I ordered on black friday, that will be my planned go-to rifle after I've taken it to the range and verified it doesn't have any issues.

This is the most accurate post here.. If S has really HTF so bad that you're grabbing a rifle then something has gone horribly wrong. At that point it makes no difference.
