Granted, they were usually poorly built, and rusted like crazy, but some of them were pretty awesome.

A buddy of mine had a 76 in that body style. An LS in that, what a concept.

I had a 79 liftback. A restomod with today's tech would make a fun car.

Shut your whore mouth! I"ll have you know, I owe a 2014 Toyota Landcruiser 4.5ltr turbo-charged ute. And if I change out the seats
to something comfortable, put in a 3-inch lift kit and a good aftermarket suspension, and change out the exhaust to something that
actually lets the engine breathe, install a Toyota 200 series auto conversion and put in a decent Unichip tune,
then after I have done all that at least it will still be a V8 Landcruiser Ute that is underpowered and handles like a pig.

Wild itch on my ass dream car: Viper GTS

I have obtained the car I have always wanted in the configuration I wanted:

1997 Pontiac Trans Am Ws6, 6spd, Hardtop (non t-top car).

People don't seem to care for the 93-97 Trans Am body style mainly because of the LT1. Everyone wants the 98-02 when they refreshed the front end and dropped the LS1 in the F-body.

Clean LT1 cars are hard to find these days.

The one I want nobody wants because nobody can afford it - the ultimate armored SUV, the Knight XV.

The one I want that nobody wants and nobody has ever heard of, the Dartz Pombron Nagel, a Russian armored supercar that I think never went into production. Would have probably been as reliable as a Lada and as user friendly as a T-62.

Lately, I've thought that a 1978-ish Chevy Nova would make a fun candidate for a sleeper LS swap. It probably has been done before, but I haven't seen many.

I've also always liked Mercury Comets since I was a kid, without really being able to explain why. There doesn't seem to be many of these around, either:

A local Ford dealer's son had one of those when they first came out.  His was blue and white with all of the spoilers and stickers. Dad had his engine guys "massage" the 302 it had in it. It was pretty fast but Jr. was bad about breaking things.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fox_armoured_reconnaissance_vehicle
"It had a crew of three and had a low profile rotating turret armed with a 30 mm L21 RARDEN cannon, which was manually fed with three-round clips; 99 rounds were carried. A coaxial L37A2 7.62 mm machine gun was mounted with 2,600 rounds. The weapons were not stabilised. This turret was also equipped with a set of two 4-barrelled smoke dischargers. The vehicle had a combat weight of 6.75 tonnes and was designed to be air-portable"
"Without preparation, the Fox can ford one metre of water and a flotation screen can be erected in two minutes."

it has 434 km range and 104 km max speed. it can -just- do highways in the usa. amphibious makes it super interesting, imo. and of course, a 30mm cannon is just too hilarious.

i remember 10 years ago it was still just a prototype. now it seems to cost around 60k. i personally prefer soft wings so if the engine fails, i'll simply float to the ground.

They are hard to find in decent shape these days. And if you do find one with reasonably low miles it will likely run in the $40K or more price range.

Back in 1992, there was a Ferret (the predecessor to the Fox) for sale for a very reasonable price near where we lived. I wanted it something fierce, but was unable to convince my parents that an armored car was just the thing for a teenage boy's first vehicle.
