In Western Washington, they were too numerous to list, lots of Z28s, classic cars etc.
New Mexico, lol shit box central! Probably the most impractical was the cab over semi one kid drove every day. |

Kids dad owns a custom shop in Chicago, he built it with his dad and still owns it 35 years later. One of the most humble down to earth guys you could meet. |

Can't really remember too many cool cars that stood out other then the brand new 78 Trans Am the stuck up little cheerleaders daddy bought her. I ran into her about 15 years after highschool, she was flipping burgers at Hardee's and right there in the parking lot was a beat to shit rusted out 78 Trans Am. It made me laugh.

If you’ve ever watched Dazed and Confused , that is a good representation of the types of cars in our hi school . Except , these were not in pristine condition and the best were ss/rs camaro and a 70 ss chevelle . Again , these were not pristine by any means . I graduated ‘81

One kid drove his parents 1961 better, red with white insert.
Another kid had a 67 fastback mustang with a Paxton. There was also a 69 chevelle so 396. A 69 nova so, a few challengers from 70-73. Then of course the trans answer, iroc's and mustang fox bodies.. |

We had a couple of 68 Chargers, newer 89 Mustang GTs, Z28, and one well off kid had a white Alfa Romeo convertible.

just to once more piont out things that pove the US is a great place desite GD's detractors
Over here: - Needed to be 18 - Diving license is about 3-4k - Cars taxed at +67% of value. - Recurring road taxes about $80 monthly for a smallish euro car, $300 monthly for a big US style SUV. - Parking tax $600 per year. - Schools dont have parking spaces and the $600 you just payed was only for parking in a couple streets next to your house. The streets near the school wil have regular paid parking at about $20-30 per day for school hours. SO NO FUCKING CARS AT SCHOOL BECAUSE YOU ARE TAUGHT TO BE A GOOD PUBLIC TRANSPORT COMMIE. |

Class of ‘01 in farming community so lots of trucks and suvs but one kid had a minty navy blue 1983 k10 single cab long bed with bfg MTs. He flipped it exactly one week after graduation, totaled the truck and ended up dying later that week from injuries.

One kid had a ‘69 Z28 that I thought was cool as hell. Was beat up a bit on the right door.
Another kid had a ‘69 (or ‘70, don’t remember now) Impala coupe, maroon, with a 396 big block. Was a 2 barrel but I still lusted for it. Another guy had a really cool ‘74 Camaro jacked up in the rear. Class of ‘79 |

I don't recall seeing anything more exotic than 4th gen Camaros or Mustangs.
I didn't pay much attention, though. I was in the punk, metalhead, goth loser crowd. The only friend I had who drove used his mom's Ford Aerostar.

My 1957 MGA, once I sort of finished the build, was among them. 1800 CC engine swap with a shaved head, Addco anti-sway bars, 90 wt oil in the lever shocks, and a real thumping Sanyo stereo with a Clarion amp in an era when few had anything beyond KMart Sparkomatic speakers. Had a T/A or two, and maybe one Z/28. Both TAs were real WS6 cars IIRC. Class of '82.

Class of '89.
Of the new cars in the parking lot, Ferrari Testarossa was the nicest new car.. But, off the top of my head, some friends had a Lotus Esprit, Delorean, Aston Martin AMV8, . Another friend had a Super Bird, and another a 1956 Buick Riviera Special that he inherited from his Grandparents. I miss my 80s! |

Freshman year 1974, 57 Chevy with 383 stroker. Some type of cam in it, it would lope as he idled past the school.
Sophomore year, 1975, Impala like Steve in American Graffiti except blue. Jr. Year 1976, guy with Impala sold it and bought a early 70’s GTO, 1976 me, my 64 Ford F100 old farm truck my dad said I could have if I got it running. Long bed stepside, 3 on the tree, 223 6 cylinder. 1977 Sr year, a guy had a GTX that was a monster, it just sounded mean. Watched him light them up more than once. I hope you get the idea I was kind of fixated on cars. Last summer at a car show a woman who had a car next to mine told me I looked familiar. I told her my name and she told me I thought that was you. I asked hers, she told me her name, I responded, 71 Monte Carlo, green with black top, air shocks in the back to lift the rear. That was popular at the time. She laughed and said so you knew my car but not me. |

Class of 85. This one kid had parents that bought him everything. He had an IROC Z then got a Buick Grand National. A few kids whose dad was a dentist drove BMW M series cars. BMW's were about it for exotics. It is Tennessee after all. More trucks than anything.

Mine. It was in 1994. Among the sea of BMW and trucks, my '63 Impala SS with a nasty 327 shined. The car was seriously famous for a long time around here. I wrecked it on Christmas night then sold it to a drug dealer a few years later. Its in Houston now and restored.

I went to school with some very, very wealthy kids in the midwest in the late 90s. Range Rovers, Mercedes, and tons of American "muscle" cars of the time. Most of the cool kids had brand new Jeep Grand Cherokees. But the coolest car was the pickle empire kid's. It was a new 911 turbo, one of the really high end versions. I don't remember exactly which. He was nice enough, total stoner though.

Mine.
Changed oil at a local Ford dealership and they sold me a brand new Mach 1. Whenever some retired guy came in for new tires with 50% wear left, I’d stash them in the corner of the shop. Friday after closing time I’d install them on the back of my car and roll in Monday with cords showing on both sides. In the first six months of owning it I’d put like 8 sets on the back lol. |

I was pretty close to the top, if not THE top. There were some kids newer, more expensive cars, but I might have had the coolest.
I graduated in '97. I alternated between the car below which was freshly restored at the time and I still own (had different wheels back then though). And my black 1987 Mustang GT. And if it was a really good day, I might get to drive my dad's mystic 1996 Mustang Cobra. I also had a POS 2wd 1978 F150 for winter but we don't need to talk about that.  Attached File |

Class of 83, we had a variety of different kinds of vehicles I considered cool.
A couple of imports like a TR 7 and an MG B. A few guys that had modified older cars that liked to race like a ‘67 Galaxy 500, ‘66 NovaSS, and one guy had a V-8 Vega with a 327 in it. Lifted and hopped up trucks, one in particular was a Ford F-250 with a big ole 460 in it that I liked. |

There were some cool mustangs, a chevelle, along with a 71 Skylark which was pretty nice. One girl drove a super nice, but rather vintage BMW, while another had a brand new Neon. In my opinion of the coolest car was the 455SD Trans Am.

Stock F100 4x4 in cobalt blue ... there were a half dozen F100s in my senior HS class with gun racks in the back of our trucks. And we would have our deer rifles back there .... fact
