Was thinking about this after I saw a post from a user about AR from 2012.
So what are the trends in AR's for 2024? Rails, optics, etc... |

I don't think there will be much of a change this year. MLOK, LPVO's, red dots with magnifiers - all will remain popular, as will more simple retro builds. Light, sling, optic isn't going away for "serious use" rifles. I have noticed over the last few months that more and more people are skipping on BUIS and relying on the dependability & redundancy of optics (LPVO with offset red dot, for example).

Don’t know if it’s a trend, but I have a severe itch for a 20” AR. I already have two 16” M4’s…….don’t need another AR, but something about the 20” is calling my name.

That "FPNI" thing is uncanny sometimes.
My AR's sit in the safe with sad faces while I'm out fooling around with my x95. |

Idk. Functionally not much changes.
I have my NV gun draped in unity, geiselle, with the LAM. Surefire. Etc However my block 1 carbine still kicks ass. Hybrid thermals. Maybe this year. |
Idk...I still love shooting ARs but am pretty much over building new ones or any new trinkets coming out. I don't think I'll be building or changing anything anytime soon.
Instead of quad rails we will have octo-rails in picatinny.
Also, more low cost FRT. More Carbon Fiber for the de-luxe crowd. Someone will find out that Magpul donated significantly to Code Blue and Biden/Harris and they will be boycotted. AI powered bluetooth enabled reddots that know what you are aiming to hit before you do. |

Been bored with ARs for awhile now. Branched out to something different with an AP5-P awhile back just to try something new (to me). |

I feel like we’ve basically peaked for the time being, I don’t see much changing for a bit.
I think interest in non-ARs will climb. |
Based on SHOT show- the trend is ARs manufactured by companies you've never heard of.
I want to pick up one of the quad stack AR's and put a FRT in it.

Let’s see, I’m excited about the Indonesian FNC, and possibly the BM 59. I like that 5.7 PDW the PSA has in the works, so I’m gonna say AR alternatives are going to be all the rage. I predict the PSA JAKL will be the most popular “AR” this year.

Would expect more weapon-mounted thermal and NV considering the new Holosun offerings

* Even MORE rails. Can't leave the house without your AR looking like Sputnik.
* Higher optic mounts so you can sight down your red dot while hip-firing. * Multiple dots inside the same optic (already started). A dot for every purpose under heaven. |

KAC will drop a yuuuugeee vault release on RAS FF Rails and the likes and the Neckbeards will eat shit...............................

Nonstandard guns that you will not be able to get repair parts for later on?

Two types of AR15s are the current thing.
11.5"-12.5", suppressed, MLOK rail, IR laser, Eotech and Magnifier on a riser, relatively slick rails 13.7", 14.5" or 16" DMRs with MLOK rails, IR laser, 2-10 power-ish scope or ACOG both with piggy-backed RMR, relatively slick rails |
using them
(for training in minecraft not when the commie hoards come for our lives) |
The peak for AR's was golf ball launchers and Stark 'opsie' grips.
12" height over bore reddots will be "super practical" from the autistic crowd.
I think non-standard uppers, such as the Jakl and BRN180, are the way things are headed. They make the millions of ARs in circulation more entertaining without involving an FFL.
Modular receivers, such as the PWS UXR, may take off. That said, I don't believe that particular model will become the template due to cost alone. However, if PSA comes out with a similar concept, I'd be all over it. |
PCCs and everything related are where its at in 2024. New PCC models popping up all over the place, interesting frames for pistol serialized fire control units and braces are back.
2nd place: ARs that collapse/fold down to 16-18 inches. Short piston uppers that are compatible with AR lowers. Basically, Sig Rattler clones. |

A new thread every other day about how much they like their 20” A2 clone

I have too many AR’s so I’m going backwards on my only planned AR of 2024. Didn’t see anything cool enough from SHOT to tickle my fancy.
Going to build a M16A4 dissipator with a fat quad rail that will suck giant dick to shoot because it weighs 30 pounds with a big honking front sight base to make red dot hold overs impossible. It will be only nostalgia. |
