Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Michael Phelps, Dale Earnhardt, Wayne Gretzky? Someone else?

Who do you think was/is the athlete that was best at what they did and most dominated everyone else in their sport?

Johnny Weissmuller. A swimmer who apparently never worked out or even tried, just outswam everyone.

John Smith;

Cael Sanderson;

Alexander Karelin.

The Great One was a man playing against boys. Most of his records will never be broken.

As you asked the question, the answer almost has to be Michael Phelps.

Came here to post similar.
G-Man redefined the game.
He did not fit into the game of ice hockey.
He made the game fit him.

Edwin Moses - I think he did not lose a race for over 10 years?? 122 wins in a row. Domination.

Jim Thorpe - He won the decathlon AND the Pentathlon in the 1912 Olympics. No one will ever do that again.

Tom Brady.

Even football fans in general do not understand how ferocious of a competitor the man is. The only one who came even close was Jordan.

Michael Jordan is the obvious choice.  But there were plenty of other athletes who were essentially unbeatable at their peak.  Usain Bolt sprinting, Jeremy McGrath at supercross, Tucker Hibbert in Snocross.

Muhammad Ali as a boxer.

First thought that came to me was Michael Phelps. His biology was perfect for swimming.

Going with MMA it would probably be Jon Jones but he keeps fucking up at every turn and instead of just fighting he gets suspended, waste of talent.

Simply cannot think of a more dominating figure than him in any category or class within living memory

Professional fighters were afraid to fight him/ knocked out within the first exchange

Hard with sports like football that are not as individual but I would say Lawrence Taylor.  Jordan and Gretzky for sure though,  with Howe a close second to Gretzky

Michael Schumacher.

5 straight championships, 7 total.

From 2000-2004 he couldn't be touched.
