He's not popular, but Floyd Mayweather Jr was more than dominant in his sport.  Say what you want about his fights but he always came out on top.  Heck one of his only losses came because the judges were paid off to call it against him; even his opponent was shocked.

I don't like the guy but you really can't watch his matches and say that he wasn't utterly dominant in his craft at that weight class.

Wilt Chamberlain.

They had to change the rules of the game to stop him.

That is  dominating a game.

They changed multiple different rules just because of him.

There is only one player in NBA history who averaged 30pts and 20rebs for an entire season: Wilt Chamberlain. He did it seven times in his career.

Michael Jordan scored 50+pts 31 times in his career. Wilt did it 45 times in one season.

Kareem Abdul Jabbar's best rebounding season was 1,383. Moses Malone's was 1,444. Shaquille O'Neal's was 1,122. Aside from one season (out of 14 he played) where he was limited to just 12 games due to injury, Wilt's worst rebounding season was better than Malone's best. Wilt had over 2,000 rebounds twice and over 1,900 another five times.

That, my internet acquaintances, is pure domination.

I was going to chime in with Serena Williams, but I'd be wrong.  Turns out it's Steffi Graf.

Graf won 22 Slams, the most by any female or male in the sport, recording seven championships at Wimbledon, six at the French Open, five at the U.S. Open and four at the Australian. In 56 Grand Slam events, her record was 282–34 (an amazing 89 percent) with the breakdown being 87–10 at the French, 75–8 at Wimbledon, 73–10 at the U.S., and 47–6 at the Australian.

The 89 percent winning percentage held in her overall singles record as she finished 900–115. She was anchored in the top spot in the Women’s Tennis Association rankings for a record 377 weeks, including 186 consecutive from August 1987 to March 1991.
Graf was great to watch play.  She could adjust her play to her opponent and had all the weapons a tennis player needs.  Her biggest weapon though, was her brain.  In her prime, she was very difficult for her opponents to contend with.

      This is truth.

I went with Serena over Graf simply due to the fact that Serena has been as dominant for a much longer career.

Saw him at Mile High in Denver back in '95. It was the season that he won 14 out of 15 SX races. The week before he'd lost St. Louis, but he only came in 2nd because he was fighting the flu. Would have been nice to see him have that perfect season. I got tired of people saying that he couldn't ride outdoors (MX), because he won a championship in MX and surely could have won more if he'd cared at all about racing outdoors.

The entire premise of this thread is "Which athlete dominated their sport the most?"

Whether or not Wilt's competition was as good as Jordan's competition is immaterial. Wilt dominated his opponents far more impressively than any other NBA player in history, Jordan or otherwise.
