To me it’s Aliens. It has humor, action, excellent special effects (from before computers), and a great plot.

Alien 3 is better than Alien to me. I just found Alien kinda boring. I’ve been watching them all again since I got the Blu-ray box set recently. I was happy when Alien was over. I’m almost done with Aliens now. When it’s finally released on 4K I’ll buy it. |

I voted Alien,
but choosing between Alien and Aliens is like choosing between two of your children. The Alien series ended with Aliens. Everything else has been progressively worse. |

Alien if you like horror
Aliens if you like action Alien is best IMO. Best atmosphere. Best cast. Best scares. No screaming girl. |

Alien is not just the best in the series, it’s my favorite movie of all time. It’s essentially a perfect haunted house movie wrapped in a terrifying science fiction tale based on a body horror foundation. The pacing, character development, cinematography and conclusion are simply perfect. I love Aliens and Alien 3 (the assembly cut), but Alien is seminal. The creature alone is so distinct from the other films - it’s got a cold intelligence that isn’t present in Cameron’s or Fincher’s movie, which relegate the Alien to essentially an animal - an oversized ant to be specific. The mystery in Alien also works so well - it never explains the Alien or the Jockey/Derelict ship - the Alien is just this horrible nightmare that exists in the darkness of space. The more that gets explained, the less the mystery adds to the fear and anxiety.

I voted Aliens . I rememember watching both Alien and Aliens in the theatre when they first came out . Alien was more of a horror movie IMO . The reactions from first time viewers to both of them was epic in a theatre . Including me ! Lol. Apocalypse Now was also a different experience first viewing .

Aliens.
One of the few times the sequel is better than the first. |

None. The Alien movies and all other movies in the same universe suck.

R rating wasn't as strictly enforced in 1979 as it is now. It was absolutely terrifying. It cemented my love of Science Fiction as a genre. I also loved Aliens. It was great followup to Alien and is what I think would be a typical human response to an alien threat. |

Aliens. Should have kept going with the Colonial Marines instead of killing them all off. One of the biggest missed opportunities in cinema history.

Trivia: Michael Biehn subbed in for the original Hicks actor about half way through filming.

Aliens
And it's not even close. But an ARFCOM poll is the only way to be sure. |

Alien is a horror movie and stands alone as a badass flick
The rest are a sci fi trilogy, Aliens is the best of the trilogy. |

Aliens is one of the greatest Friday night beer drinking wkth the guys movie ever.
“I’m Hudson, sir, he’s Hicks…” |

Aliens is one of my favorite movies. Alien is also really good, but Aliens is better. 3 is OK, but I would have rather they didn't make it. 4 is dog shit.

Alien is more pure from a production quality and cinematography standpoint. It holds up very well even today.

View Quote I saw it a few years later on a new fangled channel called the HBO as a young whipper snapper. My parents didn't have HBO yet and wouldn't have dreamed of letting me watch such a movie on the living room TV while they were awake! But the neighbor's kid was my age and let me watch. First time (and still the most intense) I was ever genuinely scared of a movie, almost too scared to watch, but I soldiered through it and have loved scary movies ever since. That movie has true dread and psychological terror. Modern movies hardly ever do. Gore and jump scares are not "horror". |

"Aliens" - and it's not even close.
"Alien" was a slow draggy horror movie. "Aliens" was much better paced & action to the very end. RIP Hudson - you were a bad ass to the end! "Alien 3" & "Alien Resurrection" sucked donkey balls - so everyone pretends they don't exist - so let's not bother to play that they in any way represent the "Alien" quadrilogy. Really want to see the "Dark Horse" version of the Aliens swarm Earth ... |

Aliens
I watched it the other day and it's one of those movies that has barely aged. |

Quoted: Ridley Scott was a genius. View Quote While looking for something else tonight, I found a story about how Scott wanted to end Alien. The studio didn't like his ending. Scott was going to have Ripley lose to the alien, the alien punching holes in her helmet and ripping off her head. I read it, don't know how true it is. |

Quoted: Aliens \thread My fav line is so obscure, but i know it every time I hear it- Its very pretty Bishop, but what are we looking for? Feel that way every time someone posts/ says something I dont understand/ random. 99.9 % dont know that quote. Im just like https://media.tenor.com/CIG62CG8xvQAAAAM/aliens-bishop.gif when people dont get it. Prob THE most quotable movie, ever. Close second would be Diehard, with Predator 3rd. Fuck, I could prob make an entire conversation with those three movies. View Quote I mostly speak in movie quotes. Mostly. |
