The black stripes won't show enough contrast with most of your colors. Orange would probably be your best bet if you're wed to these colors. You might get away with it on some of the colors if you use a contrasting border stripe on your stripes like red or orange.

Didn't intend any disrespect.
That is the great thing about old cars, you build them for you and your tastes/style.

Sorry....none taken.

Totally agree. Individualism is what it's all about.

Fathom blue looks different every time I see it, I’m convinced that it’s being mixed improperly on most cars. It’s a great looking color when it looks like yours.

Orange is by far my favorite color, it’s just very common on these cars so I’m not sure if I want it.

I considered that, but I’m very picky about shades, and it’s very difficult to see one in person.

I sort of like the idea of that actually. It would be subtle, which isn’t the point of a muscle car really, but it appeals to me for whatever reason.

My favorite color of all time, they called it midnight navy blue. At night it looks black but in broad daylight you could see the blue metallic

I thought about white stripes on the one I did, not a real bright white though.
Maybe something like the old Ford Wimbledon White.

Only old men can afford a Chevelle these days.

I have to build them myself and that takes a bundle of cash too.
Around here even a rusted shell is high dollar anymore.
The one I picked up in April this year was dumb luck.
One small rust hole in the driver's side front floorboard and everything has the correct date codes, even the starter and alternator are right.
The only things missing were the exhaust manifolds/heat stove, radio and the ashtray.
The engine and trans have the matching VIN stamped in them too.
I hate the color but I feel obligated to keep it original.

They’re reasonably affordable in this area so long as you aren’t after a highly desirable example.

I paid $4,500 for mine, no engine, and in primer but most of the parts were there and the body was 95% done.

I already have a small block sitting around, and could have gotten the car drivable for not too much money. Unfortunately I’ve decided that I want to be difficult, and do a pro touring style build, which is both expensive, and long term.

Guy in my platoon had a 69 Chevelle SS with a dark green paint and black vinyl top.  Cragars with big tires on the back.  375 hp 396 and turbo 400 automatic.

That is the car I see in my mind (even after 40 plus years) when I think of pretty Chevelles.

That’s exactly what it would be.

If it were a wagon, I’d be more open to the idea.

Gray with black stripes.
ETA: when I was a senior in high school, two of the "popular" guys in my class each got a '71 Chevelle SS (bought by their dads).  Both were gray with black stripes.  One had the cowl induction hood, the other did not.  The only other car I lusted after more was a '69 Pontiac GTO Judge, in orange of course.  Alas, I was a poor farm kid and didn't have money or a father with money who would buy me a car.
