Yep. The F4U and A10 are at the top of my list.

B17 is right behind.

I voted F4, but would change my vote to JU-87 if it was the tank-buster version:

STUKA JU 87 G type - Tank buster!

And I'd need some tanks to, you know, bust.

I've always wanted a ride in a P-51 but truthfully would love a ride in about any WWII era fighter.  I get to see a lot of them every year at the Reno Air Races.

I have about 23 hours in the back seat of an EA-6B from the early 70s, including a Cat and Trap on USS Constellation.  Not very sexy but still way cool.  I can say GRU-7 ejection seats are not very comfortable for a cross country flight.

Another for SR-71 Blackbird

For the view, if nothing else, for the speed check...

B1-B for me but I love the P-38 and Skidoo is my favorite one still flying. The Red Bull edition is just silly.

F-4.

A guy I know flew both the F-4E and F-15A/C in the STL guard.

He said the Eagle is awesome but the F-4 is hands down the better flying airplane.

I’m too old to pull 6g’s. Give me an F-4, three bags of gas and a low level route and I’ll die a happy man!

It's easy to go fly a TF51.

You just need around 4 grand an hour.

If you do it, and you should, highly recommend going to Kissimmee FL to Stallion51.  Crazy Horse 2 was a lot of fun.

That hour went way too quickly.

Corsair
Spitfire
P38
ME 262
F4

Uh, what?  In what regard?

The Phantom has all sorts of "bad habits" that McD specifically corrected in the Eagle design.  I know a lot of people who fly Eagles and have a sentimental attachment to the Phantom, but none of them who would objectively say that the Rhino was a "better flying airplane".

From the list the F4 or the Mustang.

However would prefer P-38 Lightning, F7F Tigercat, B-25 or A-26 Invader.

You want to fly in the Hornet, trust me.

Why, you ask?

Simple. High AOA. It is a freaking blast. You feel laid back like the space shuttle all while doing about 100kts.

F-16. I used to see them take off and land daily when I lived near a base in VT. The used to land less than. A mile from the apt building I lived in. Neat stuff.

Not sure what you're asking. If your talking a one time ride along from your list of options, no question, B1! Take off and climb out w/ full AB. Oh yeah!! If you're asking given the key for a few hours to fly alone, I'd take the P-51 from your list.

Now if you talking winning the mega bucks and buying a plane to fly all the time, PC-12 would be my first choice.

Just flying around. Not ACM or dropping bombs or edge of the envelope stuff. Talking day VFR flying around, wasting gas.

ETA: And, planes with “bad habits” make flying interesting. Go fly an MD80 around... Hell, I’m now finding some of the ‘Bus’s bad habits.

I don't know anything about flying an SR-71 so I'm 110% talking out my ass, but why choose a plane that:

1) you can't see out of
and
2) by the time you have step- and zoom-climbed up to an altitude where you can actually go fast, the sensation of speed is completely gone.
