Its about to be 2023, the vehicle industry looks like utter crap. Covid exposed how fragile and stupid car makers can be when relying on China for everything. Electrification is a pipe dream and by the end of '24 people are clamoring for gas vehicles. The recession hits but eventually gets better. The industry finally gets their heads out of the clouds to make decent vehicles once again.

For example in the SUV space,
I think Suzuki should bring over the Jimny from global markets and sell it under Toyota dealerships as a barebones offroader to undercut everyone in the Jeep/Bronco space.

I could also see Honda take the current Passport and make an Element variant to differentiate it from the Pilot. More rugged looks, less plastic cladding, and increasing the ground clearance slightly while maximizing utility inside/out.

As for cars,
Mazda stretches the MX5, throws in a sports derived I6 that they've been developing, and makes it a coupe dedicated to great driving.

I think American auto makers should throw out the "muscle car" concept and replace it with electric SUVs.

Maybe even keep the muscle car name so the grocery go-getter seems spicier.

Honda element with a little more robust awd would sell well i think. Hard to find many good awd van life type cars.

Well, the retro phase is over now, but while it was ongoing I would have liked to see a modern rendering of the slabside Lincoln, a la third generation Marauder.

Honda Element.

It was ahead of its time,  and showed up before the boxy look was accepted.

Every single person that rides in ours is amazed at how much they love it.  Like mama special boy,  it's only ugly on the outside.

My father was amazed at how much it could fit with the rear seats removed,  and for it his tape measure.... other than height,  it had more room than his older, midsized dodge pickup bed.

Give it an extra 100hp, it would be a dream.

That thing was robust too my wife got hit pretty hard twice in hers and it was repaired both times. They just need to get the gas tank off the ground and give it the ability to take a little taller tire.

Wow!
I’m beginning to think that modern V8 muscle cars are about to go away. At least for a while.

Those Japanese vans should be brought here.

Almost like a continuation of the vw bus except reliable.

Ford crown Victoria. Reliable old beast.  I had a town car and a crown Vic and both were fantastic vehicles with great room.  Epa had a major stake in killing large cars and having them replaced with suvs that get even worse mileage.

I'd trade out of my Nautilus for a new Towncar today. I'd wager that I wouldn't be the only old fart Boomer there to do the same thing.
