It weird because I’ve been dating a gal that’s pretty country. Like the thing to do on a Friday night is watch the local high school football game country. I like to think that I blend in pretty good but more often I catch myself wondering about if there’s a more interesting thing that folks could do with their time except get mad about the talent from the county one over.
I think it’s just so strange that folks get themselves so riled up about a game. I mean, it’s supposed to be fun and teach kids about teamwork right? Right? |

My Grandfather smoked his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, 'If you ever want to see your grandchildren graduate, you have to stop immediately.'. Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake. He gave it up immediately. Three years later he died of lung cancer. It was really sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- 'Don't ever smoke. Please don't put your family through what your Grandfather put us through." I agreed. At 28, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because your post gave me cancer anyway.

You sure it was white trash and not cultural???
I grew up NE of Baltimore. We were on a scouting camp weekend and a church from the inner city was camping as well. They asked us if we wanted to play basketball. We got our A** handed to us with a broken arm, multiple lesions, one kids tooth was knocked loose. There wasn't a single one of us that left the court without blood stains... We were 12 or 13 at the time..... Never again would I partake in inner city ball. |

Basketball often brings out the white trash. My school is a basketball school. For a damn long time we had a coach that instilled sportsmanship in our team. It is still there, just kind of - but damn, some of the teams and coaches we play against.

What happens here a lot, with all the sports, is that most people don't even understand the rules, but will yell loudly anyway. Offsides in soccer is hilarious because people are either screaming that someone was or wasn't offsides, like actually angry about it, even when it was a good play. It's like their default for "I don't know what just happened, but I didn't like the outcome so the ref needs to call something". |
