Last show I went to was a couple years back. This GT500KR took up all of my attention. Two-owner car, with the first owner being my cousin, who sold it to the current owner at least 40 years ago. Paint, interior, everything still original, as I understand it. Fuuuuuuuuuck.

I did when I was younger and grew up in 80/90's.

Newer cars have so much more to offer now it's hard to appreciate the old stuff without rose colored/investment glasses.

Chevelles were at the top of my list until I learned of Detomaso Panteras.  By the time I could afford to buy a decent one at current prices, they'll probably be going for a few million.

Respect for the big-block engines, let's get that straight.

But, there are a lot of people with 396 Camaros and Chevelles, 392 Challengers, 383 Mopars, 350 Mustangs, and even 289 Mustangs (Shelby), that deserve to be on the list too.

Last year I finally sold a 1971 Dodge Dart Swinger my grandmother gifted me in 1991. Completely original, always garage stored. 28k miles on the clock. About 95% condition. It went to a good home where the buyer was going to keep it original and not "hot rod" it, rather only display in car shows.

Grandma would be happy.

I love the B-body Chargers.  I'm a GM guy but quick question, with the glass recessed and not flat like a Daytona, isn't is a regular Charger meaning not a 500?  I think I remember that's how it was for a 69 500 cause the recessed rear glass was worse in the wind tunnel.  But maybe that's not the case for 70?  One day I'll own a 69 one day.

Then you are ignorant.

Those are models that emerged to combat the 389s, 400s, 396s, etc.

The premier engine in a 442 or Chevelle in 1970 does not mean the 442 or Chevelle SS In 1968 was not a muscle car.

The lack of a premiere engine in 1970 for Pontiacs does not mean GTOs we’re not muscle cars.

We have similar taste in cars ..

I have a original 68 Camaro RS that was my wife’s grandmothers.

A 1994 Firehawk #465 that SLP borrowed for SEMA when they could get a 95 in time.

28k miles 6 speed manual with two on the left and lowered SLP suspension.  Black on Black leather. Wife (then girlfriend) bought it right when she graduated nursing school.

She is a nursing Professor now. She wants a G wagon now.

I have a BMW M6 V10 6 speed manual for my needs.  Wanted a M car since I could drive.

For some reason I want something else... just don’t know what.

Nice collection brother

Originally muscle car referred to any performance midsize and pony car model big or small block made from 64-72 excluding Corvette (Corvette is not a muscle car and never has been).  These days though it refers to those original performance models (SS, R/T, GT)  and now includes the non performance model shared on the same model like say a Tempest to a GTO or a base model Camaro or Chevelle.

Here's a quick peak in my garage. 13 Mustang GT is the daily driver. The 70 Charger 500 is still waiting for attention, sadly. Basketcase as is, and i'm way over my head on just the bodywork alone. But now the wife is working again, and i'm hoping i can get it in the shop for some despirately needed sheetmetal.
You are correct about the 69 500. Those were a mid production variant released in order to gain entry into Nascar. Rules stated at 500 must be in production in order to gain entry, hence the 500. But in the 1970 production, the 500 was a midgrade option. Cosmetically the same as the base model. I think the only upgrade was typically a bigger block, but that was it. They used the 69 500 styled body with the flush rear window as the base for the Charger Daytona and Plymouth Superbird.

14 second cars are not muscle cars to me, sorry. It’s all a matter of opinion anyway. The most powerful cars of the time were lucky to run 13s.

Do I love the cars of this generation? Yes I do, just to me there not all muscle.

There’s no book definition, it’s all opinion. Get two old guys together and they will argue all day if a Corvette is one.

Nice ride OP, my first car was a 70 Cutlass in that same color. Also had a 68 Chevelle and a 72 Nova over the years but nothing anymore.

A buddies neighbor has a mean looking 68 Cutlass in a gunmetal gray I've been lusting over though.
