Been carrying my model 60 more and more. Thinking of getting a lightweight to throw in the pocket for something lighter.

Also missing an SP101. Thinking maybe a 3”.

Who is carrying a revolver these days?

I own several revolvers, several. I would never carry one for daily defense.

Me.

I wear a SP101 DAO and a S&W 442 as my primaries.  I like the simplicity and reliability, as well as the ability to pocket carry.

To make it worse I am under 40 years old.

I mostly carry a 4” 357 magnum. I live rurally and am more likely to shoot wild hogs than about anything else so it makes more sense than a 9mm.

Occasionally I’ll catty 2.5” 357 magnum and I’ve popped pigs with it too.

I figure it’ll do for self defense against about anything with pretty good authority. When traveling to the city a red-dot 365 XL gets the nod as there are no sounders of pigs that are stronger and faster than people so a weaker cartridge will do.

I’m under 40 and considering going to a revolver as my primary. I shoot them well.

@03RN seems to be very proficient.

There’s a smith 357 that I’ve had my eye on. Either a 3” or 4” barrel with woods grips. @Chase45 has one but I can’t remember what model it is.

I messed up my non-dom left hand 3 years ago real bad and it took me over 2 years of PT before I could work a slide again. I switched to carrying my 3" M65 during the time and was happy to have it. It was much easier for me to work 1.5 handed.

I pack a S&W 637 Airweight most of the spring/summer months. 2 reloads, and fine by that.

If I did, it would be in 9mm Luger.

If the first round of a semi auto does not go bang because of a bad primer, a revolver will look pretty good at that point.

heavier calibers .357mag   .41 mag  44 mag   45LC    It makes sense where there are large predators.

J frame  revolvers are really light compact and easy to carry and they go bang multiple times even without leaving the pocket where a small semi auto will jam inside a pocket.

There are valid reasons both ways.

I carry a 340PD in my HPG chest rig while running and rucking. I love revolvers but don't carry them outside of that. Well I do have 442 in my center console but that doesn't count.

When I lived in Tucson I carried a 4" S&W Model 10-5 with boot grips, after a certain incident I switched to a SIG P228.

I've carried a Kahr CM9 since 2017 along with a Microtech Ultratech.

I leave a .44 in my coat/jacket pocket. Don't have to think about it. Whenever I go anywhere, the last thing I do is throw on the garment and I'm armed, whether I'm carrying my primary on regular errands or taking out the trash.

I throw a 442 in my pockets often.  It actually prints less than an LCP.  It just looks lumpy like a pair of keys due to the cylinder and curved grips.

Always thought I would hate one, but so far it's been nothing but great for carry.

If I carry a revolver, it'll be a backup gun intended for if I'm getting taken to the ground and need to press the muzzle against a man's liver for a one-time shot, maybe two.

I regularly carry both my 4” S&W 686 357 mag (won my only gun fight with that one) and a 4 5/8” Ruger old model Vaquero 44 mag. Sometimes my grandpas old 38 snub if just popping into a store by the house. Got a couple autos that rotate through too. Just depends on the day.

Is this a post from 1983? I can’t think of any reason I’d carry a revolver for defensive carry.

I am confident that 5x125grn JHP from my SP101 would stop just about any attacker. That said, 5 rounds are spent very fast.

I carry a 360pd outdoors, hiking/mountain biking, and a S&W .38 bodyguard daily.  Will probably buy a 340pd when I get around to it.

More than comfortable with it.  I shot 1,000 rounds through the bodyguard at the range the first year I carried it.

Both guns weigh next to nothing and are a breeze to carry even in shorts.  You never even notice you have them.

I've never understood why anyone would care enough to not MYOB and instead post their disdain for anyone carrying a revolver, in a thread for those carrying a revolver.

I mean, I get that it's a discussion board, but this obviously isn't the thread you wanted to discuss the way the OP had intended. FWIW, I don't carry revolvers either, but for those that do, I sleep fine because none of what they do affect me. I like hearing what they have to say instead of trying to argue about the things people don't like under the false pretenses of a "discussion."

I carry a .38 Taurus Ultralite or a S&W 686 around the yard and property.

So far I haven't seen anything that's needed 'chootin' but there's lots of critters out here.

If I leave the property there's an AR rifle in the Jeep.

I carried a J frame, model 60, 37 or 36 for 40 years.

Until the p365 came along.

I have a Glock 19 and even it was " to big" to replace the revolvers.
