Mike Tyson in his prime would kick the holy hell out of the rest while in their prime if it were possible to put such an event together.

My opinion.

I think the Ali that faced Foreman would frustrate and wear down any form of Tyson, prime or not.  Ali had slowed down a bit from his prime, but he was wiser and mentally stronger than any form of Tyson.

Foreman is one of the all time great punchers and Ali ate his punches all night.  The damage he sustained in that fight likely contributed to his deterioration later in life.  Again, it is an excellent example of his durability and mental toughness.  That form of Ali would KO Tyson or have him quit.

The best heavyweight boxer in the world does not lose to Buster Douglas at 42-1 odds.

No one who's ever walked the earth could go toe to toe with Tyson early in his career, talking like 1985-1990. Knocked out Michael Spinks in 90 seconds, Carl Williams in less than a minute, Marvis Frazier in 20 seconds, and was the only person to ever knock out Larry Holmes. Not sure we'll ever see another fighter as dominant as he was in that 5 year period.

You know that Douglas knocked Tyson out in that time frame, right?
And Spinks wasn't even a heavyweight.

Tyson was exciting to watch in his prime.  But those saying he is the best heavyweight in history need to watch more than his highlight videos on YouTube.

Douglas fought a hell of a fight that night. Regardless of Tyson not taking him seriously enough, Buster was on fire that night and earned that victory.

He beat him in the ring and damn near killed him out of it.

We're also talking Prime/ Young Tyson,  not the one after Gus was out of the picture.

Actshully, Tyson was coked out for many of his fights...

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1847985-mike-tyson-says-he-was-on-drugs-in-major-fights-reveals-how-he-passed-tests?hpt=hp_t2

Anyway I've got Ali over Tyson, since Tyson struggled against elite mobile "outside" fighters, and he also had stamina issues that would cost him against someone of Ali's caliber after about the 5th round or so.

I could see Tyson blasting out some of the fighters Ali had major issues with though, like Norton, or even Frazier.

As noted above Tyson was coked out before the Douglas fight. He had partied way too hard to be considered prime.

IMO Tyson was only at an All Time Great level from sometime after his pro debut in 1985 to when he fought Michael Spinks in 1988.

After that he was clearly on the downswing and largely costing off the reputation he built during that time.

and that was because of Don King, because he made Tyson fire Rooney which game him the only structure in his life at the time. After Rooney was gone, his skill dropped off, his relationship with Robin Givens, his rape conviction, drugs, etc all impacted his boxing, he was never the same.

Excuses? Excuses for what?  Tyson was the youngest champ ever, a compete hood with mental issues since childhood.  Prime Tyson simply means when he was young and had some influences to keep him focused.  Early Tyson was a bad bad man.

If Tyson was past his prime at 23 yoa, which he wasn’t, then that means he was never the all time greatest heavyweight boxer, by your own reasoning.

The question posed was who was the all time best heavyweight. Tyson could not be in this category under your own logic, because, according to you, he lost his focus at an early age.

I call BS on that too, Tyson hand speed was faster and harder than Ali's. Tyson fought close-in while Ali used a jabbed to keep other away.

In his prime, with his original trainer, Tyson was unbeatable by anyone, including Ali. Tyson was a schizo asshole but at his peak he was the greatest and toughest brawler ever.

It is a fact he was coked out and on the decline. Only dilettantes consider him the greatest, he will be the first to admit he isn’t.

Ali was faster with single punches and the 1-2, while Tyson was faster with combinations, and certainly the harder puncher.

He wasn't actually that great on the inside though unless he was pressing a guy that was already hurt.

Tyson was unusual in that he did his best work from medium range. An elite "inside" or "outside" fighter could beat him at their preferred range, and there weren't too many outside fighters at heavyweight better than Ali.

Bowe beat a prime-ish Holyfield 2 out of 3, once by stoppage.

Like Tyson he was a major threat for a short period.

I would have loved to have seen Bowe fight Tyson, but unfortunately he was basically shot by the time Tyson got out of prison and had worked himself back into contention.

Ali's most underrated ability is his chin. He could eat punches from anyone.

He was also amazing at taking a charging bull and corralling him inside. If you got inside Ali could frustrate the best with his long arms and ability to clinch.

Ali takes Tyson to the deep water and drowns him in the later rounds.

Tyson in a three way ticket with him, a big male chimp and a grizzly bear all in the ring simultaneously. All three high on meth and jabbed with cattle prods if they come within reach of the ropes.

Winner takes all.
