I do! Won’t give it away though. I guess there were 21 fucks given. Here is my coupon for 21 fucks, how much does that get me?

Oh shit! It was like a damn sears catalog

I have faint memories of green stamps. I remember the cash registers at the grocery store spitting them out.
My mom got me my first fishing pole with s&h stamps when I was about 8 or 9.
A Zepco 404 rod and reel set. |

They were like a loyalty rewards type deal.
Collect so many and you could get the fancy decorated china set. |
In our house I was the king of those. It was my job to fill the books. I liked doing it too because I got to pick most of the things we got with them
I never used them but my mom sure did. I can specify remember her getting a leaf rake, a trash can with a step open lid and one of those carpet rollers so you didn’t have to break out the vacuum. Weird, the things you remember.

My parents and grandparents collected these like they were gold, but never understood why. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Hlhu_-4x9q4/U6k1cz8ME8I/AAAAAAAAAM0/fjsjJY-WC80/s1600/Green+Stamps.jpg View Quote You then went to A&P Green Stamp stores to buy shitty, bulk-rate items that were utter garbage. Think "Made in China" circa 1976. Nowhere near as good as "Made in China" Wal-Mart shit of today. Really took advantage of seniors and people who couldn't understand math. |

Timely post, I was watching the movie Bullet and when he was in the airport I saw that sign for those stamps. I remember my grandma and grandpa having them

After you saved 87,000 you could cash them in at certain places for stuff. Remember them from the 60's and even into the 70's. |
Yes, there were stores you could walk in and redeem them for toasters, blenders, dishes, etc
Hell yeah! Remember going to the Green Stamp store to cash em' in. Mom got me a bitchin' chronograph watch once. I'm thinkin' I got my first Walkman there too if I'm not mistaken...

I think I remember something about this. How would you get the stamps to redeem later?

I always remember the old lady that would yell at me when I forgot to give them theirs after filling up their car with gas. You would swear they were gold back then.
Then they would not leave until they made sure you gave them the correct amount. Yea the good old days pumping gas in Tucson during the summer time. |

I do, I think I've still got a few kicking around. This was back in the days before credit cards, WalMarts, etc. There was S&H green stamps, and the yellow ones (Top Value). You got books which you pasted these stamps in then when you had enough filled books you turned them in for "stuff." Good quality stuff too, small appliances, toasters, kitchen ware, mixers, camping equipment, you name it. At the time, it was a good way for people who couldn't afford to buy something outright to get good stuff in their homes. Now you just charge it and the devil take the high road.

They used to have S&H stores with a large collection of items where you could cash in your stamps.
I remember going with my mom to the S&H Redemption store many times.

We used to have Texas Gold stamps down here. Like all stamps, I'm sure, you could get double stamps if you shopped at H.E.B. on Tuesdays or whenever.
We redeemed them at a redemption center in Corpus. I think about that now and again because we would get waterskis and ski ropes and the like. All that stuff worked just fine. I worry that today I would turn my nose up at that stuff because it wasn't Tier 1 gear. It sure worked, though. |
I licked the fuck out of those. I did not use them, just licked the fuck out of those.
