Taking Russian nukes off the playing field, remind the Chinese population how great wars suck ass, take siberian oil partially off the table just as we're getting our oil going in the US.

 I think it would be a fair fight as long as the Chinese stoped building and using escalators/elevators and being eaten/killed by them. Indians would have to stop electrocuting themselves on top of trains and being killed by wild animals.

It would help the whole world out.
We could sell goods to both sides, less populations and an upcoming superpower will be brought down some pegs as the war of attrition over the Himalayas and Indian ocean will deplete forces. There does run that risk of knowing liberals will want to take in every freaking refugee all over the world, bonus points to the refugee with the new 1918 flu strain, ushering in the killing millions more. |

Neither side has force projection. I'd imagine the Chinese could bomb the tar out of the Indians, as I've never read anything about Indian ADA being competent (they seem to take a more Western approach with more interceptors).
If it was an all-in war, China would eventually win as they slowly march through either the Goose Neck in Bangladesh, or through Pakistan. They have a much better manufacturing base, whereas India does not. They'd almost have to resort to nukes to get anything accomplished. But I wouldn't cry if China, Pakistan, India, and maybe a few other South East Asian (Bangladesh, Myanmar) decided to mix it up. As long as the US doesn't get involved in it, that is. |

Unfortunately India's Air Force is composed largely of Su-30s, Mirage 2000s, and Mig-21s. I would not expect the air war to go well for them.

I do believe that India's army and warrior traditions are largely invisible to Americans. They have never been perceived as a threat so we don't hear much about them.
Bottom line on "Who would win?" is what is the goal and who initiates. If there is an invasion either way the invader will not successfully conquer and occupy. Impossible. Border clas would depend on initiator and goals. |
