OK, I now they are capable of 2500-4000 rds a minute, or around 75-100 a sec.
But what don't they have loud "crack" sound, say compared to a 16" AR15. Ive fired many ARs and Auto M4's and they are loud without ear protection. Actually first time shooting a AR without plugs, caused a ringing in my ear…(never again) But with a mini gun that Ive been around while firing, its not the same. Is it just cause the rate of fire? That "growl" it makes. Reason asking…. me and the wife was talking about the mini guns in the Act of Valor movie and she asked, I didn't know really why, so I figure I'll ask the hive Pic of wife according to ARFCOM unpublished rules of GD |

Just happened to have a pic of your wormenz with a big ass sword? Winning!
Mini-gun? no clue. whir of barrels? |
|
Nice pants
I'll answer you in a minute. I'm not going to waste a good boner. |
|
Just looking at the pics of your wife........
What was the question again?????? Was there a question? |
|
I think the OP just wanted to post pics of his wife wearing sexy corsets.
And I'm OK with that. |
|
OK OK…….
No the question still stands. If I wanted to post pics of her in corsets, I'd hit up BOTD I didn't know which one the 4 to post, so said fuck it and post them all. I can take them done if it makes it easier to answer the question. The sword one is from Halloween last year Yes its a Protected by Stag sticker

My guess is that the sound waves, being so close together, are probably out of phase somehow and cancel each other out somewhat.
|
|
Yes, it is the high cyclic rate. At the 4000 rpm rate you mention, the combined impulses become a loud tone at approximately 66.7 cycles per second.
|
|
Essentially the "crack" is being drowned out by the continuous noise. You also tend to have longer barrels, which reduce the flash burn at the muzzle, another cause of the "crack" effect. Trust me, the mini guns are loud, and at least some of the high frequency is in there, it's just not distinctly audible over the general roar. Another factor in changing the sound, and to some extent reducing it, is the additional material surrounding the breech. You've got a lot more junk around the action soaking up the sound waves of the shot and turning it into vibration of various parts, which creates a different sound. By the time the whole mess gets to your ears you know the story.
If you fired a single round from a mini, without the motor going, and it had AR/M4 length barrels, you'd probably have a more familiar sound. |
|
I remember listening/watching one of those fire a few thousand round right over our heads. It was like a swarm of fireflies lighting up the night sky.
Then we realized they were not very far over our heads. We dropped back into the tank and watched out the open hatches. They have a sound like no other. Like a sewing machine going at full speed. Complete awesomeness indeed. OP, it looks like you and your wife have a lot of fun time together, congratulations. |

While not a 5.56 mini gun, when I was a kid living in Venezuela there was a coup attempt back in the early nineties. I had the pleasure of seeing an F-16 open up on an OV-10 over my house at less than 1000' distant. The 20mm Vulcan cannon is fucking loud! |

Could you suppress a mini gun? It's been done. Pictures around on the web. Bullets are still making supersonic cracks, but combined with the longer barrels and other general noise (ever hear one cycling dummies, they are fucking LOUD) it just blends. ETA: James Degroat http://www.armamentsales.com/photos/albums/userpics/10001/normal_Minigun_Suppressor_Front.jpg Can you imagine the heat that thing would build up in just a couple seconds of use? |
|
I have been near a Dillon M134 when it goes off. You definitely need ear protection standing near it, same as any .308 weapon unsuppressed. The growl is very loud and will make your ears ring. Not unlike being near a jet engine when it winds up and the sound of the thrust is deafening.

Nice looking gal OP. I like her build-she's all woman (love the curves).
What was the question again? Can you post some more? |

Not unlike being near a jet engine when it winds up and the sound of the thrust is deafening. You can feel the concussive grinding and crunching in your sternum as the push rods in the feeder delinker strip the rounds off the links. It's brutal, and I haven't experienced anything like it to date. The minigun is my all-time favorite gun. Also, if you happen to be sitting with your face near the chute (like say on the cabin floor of a helicopter as the Gunner is firing), it feels like you're getting peppered from spent rounds and links even though you aren't. |

What is that on the end table in the background of the 2nd pic?
It looks like one of them giant fisting dildos. You know....the ones that look like the "Black Power" sign, but are meant to go into someone's nether regions....... It looks like that, but made of glass. That would be a game changer in my opinion, as I've only seen them available in firm latex prior to this. And I'd like to think that you live on the bleeding edge of awesomeness already, so that must be what it is. |

What kind of sound does your wife peeling out of those plastic britches make––boing??? You lucky SOB! |

I've only heard them flying by overhead and they were loud enough to be heard over the jet engines.
