Like there is “Veteran of the Vietnam War” hats.
Up here there is a lot of them. The Vietnam Nam ones. I have not seen one Iraq war veteran hat. Is that because only Marines would be able to wear them?  |

But the Vietnam Vet hats are more prevalent because the U.S. has grossly mistreated their VN vets I suppose. |

I prefer my Oceanside special moto shirt with a pitbull salivating over a Barrett .50 saying "You can run but you'll die tired!" surrounded by flames and skulls with flags on each shoulder.

I don’t know how many Viet Nam Veterans live up here, but it’s a lot.
If China invades Alaska, they gotta go against the Viet Nam Warriors and then backed by the IRaq warririors and then backed by the Afghan warriors of the US. Good luck. Sleep easy, North America is most covered. |

I saw a guy in court Friday with a “operation Iraqi freedom veteran” hat on. It had the ribbons embroidered and everything. He had added a sapper tab, ranger tab, a 29th ID pin, and some other flair that I didn’t get close enough to him to read.
It looked pretty retarded so I didn’t engage in conversation with him to see just how much of a hero he was. |

The age demographic that tends to buy such things is, I think, just getting to include the GWOT guys. If you want to include the Desert Storm guys I do know a few guys who wear those.
Keep in mind that we still had a draft in viet nam and over the course of that war we still had a broader society involvement. The GWOT commitment fell on a smaller volunteer demographic that had multiple tours over the years we were in the sandbox |

In '08 it was the KBR Mecca. MWR buildings, better chow hall than most places stateside. The big MWR building I saw had sandbags that must have been machine filled and placed, they were so perfect. Wasn't there long enough to see everything, but big difference in 4 years. There was some money sank into that place. |

The only guy I know who wears an Iraq hat is a raging liberal NIMBY douche who took his wife's name and spent time in a reserve unit in southern Iraq doing fuck all.
I see a bunch of stickers. I seem to run into a bunch of folks from northeast VT that spent time in both Iraq and Afghanistan. I've got a cheesedick AFG/IZ license plate frame. |

Short answer, there aren’t as many Iraq vets as Vietnam vets, and of course they’re younger and don’t really do the hat thing yet for the most part.
I think a lot of them are just trying to move the hell on, not with a total memory flush per se, but maybe close. |

I’ve seen one guy with an “Afghanistan vet” baseball hat. He was early 30’s at a kids playground (with his kid).
I asked where he found it, he had it made. Then proceeded to tell me a five minute, long winded story about all the things he did there. |

The vendor by the elevators at Seattle VA has some for sale. Guy in the next chair at chemo a couple trips ago was wearing one for Desert Storm.
I've seen several others while at VA, but the number is tiny compared to the Vietnam hats worn. Can't swing a cat without hitting a Nam vet. |
