For the guys not running IR. It seems like 12 is the best possible solution if you're only considering the light- it's always going to illum your sight picture, it isn't going to bang off doors or barricades. Downsides would be you're taking up your precious C clamp space and space for the light switch or pad, and it might get in the sight picture of lower optics.

I have run a TLR1HL at 12 O clock at the end of a 12ish inch rail on my patrol for years. It works perfectly in that position.
|
|
I have an 11.5" AR pistol with a TLR-3 mounted upside-down on the 12 o'clock position. A Magpul BUIS front sight sits right behind it. It works great, but it does kind of bother me that I'm losing sight radius by mounting the front sight a few inches back.

Biggest issue is probably needing a pretty low profile light to allow sights or optic to see over it. I have an inforce WML IR on an SBR on the top rail and like it...

I have a TLR1 on a 15" ALG rail at 12 o clock with a DD fixed front behind it. It's one of my favorite ways to mount a light.

With a red dot, you lose half of your sight box.
With cross hairs or irons, it can make sense. |

I have before and it’s fine however I prefer a m3/600 scout at about 10-11 that I activate with my support hand thumb.

Pistol style (x300 tlr1 etc) goes 12.
Rifle lights I'll mount at130 with a direct mlok mount. |

Why not 6 o’clock? That’s the best place of all. But internets Tier 1 operators won’t go for it so it must be ignored.
Mines on the right side (3 o’clock?) since it’s an M951 on a KAC RAS on a Block 1 clone so no room except the sides. |

The answer of course is that I have 7” hand guards and that’s where my A-frame FSB is.

Quoted: Not if you use a high mount so you can finally shoot with your head in a comfortable position. View Quote My dots sit at A2 sight height and are plenty comfortable; if they were any higher, I'd be craning my neck to see anything instead of just having my head upright. But if you use a dot at standard AR sight height, you'll lose the entire lower half of your sight box with a 12 o'clock light. |

In my case, there is no way to deconflict a 12-o-clock light with the front BUIS.

It's the new coolness for the Tactical Timmy types.
Jokes aside it works well with a light/laser combo on top of a Mossberg Shockwave. Attached File |

You guys with inforce WML’s, how they holding up. I’ve seen mixed reviews. They seem good to go these days?

Didn't we already do this thread when a member posted his build with an A2 FSB and a 12 o'clock light? I think he said he used the light to do general aiming.

No light at all. I don't wish to broadcast my position.
Don't listen to fools - NODs rule. |

Never had an issue with the two I have, but am hesitant to put them on my serious stuff because of all the bad press i've read. |
