You can turn it off on chevys.

So you don't curb your bro wheels I guess?

Seems stupid on a truck. I don't even like it on cars.

I hate that feature. My daughter’s car does it.

It’s so your wife doesn’t curb your wheels while backing up.

It’s my favorite feature on my Audi.

On my Land Cruiser if you leave the mirror adjustment switch in the middle/ off position that feature is disabled.

Google turning it off for your make and model. I turned it off in my GMC.

If the owner’s manual doesn’t show you how to disable the feature, ask your dealer to turn it off. There is often a dealer options menu in the head unit that requires a specific key sequence to access. The dealer’s menu allows them to set options not available to the owner.

Ram? It's under setting. Mine don't tilt down that much so I just barely see the rear tires when backing up. Love it for backing into parking spaces.

Just adjust them to where you want them in reverse.  Makes parking along curbs and driveway edges much easier.

Which I take exception with. If I own the vehicle, it's my damn vehicle. Why can't I access
the options I might want to change or adjust?

I just don't get it.

I do it manually.  Just learned via this thread that newer shit does it automatically and pretty sure I'd be a fan.

There is a setting to turn it off.  Enjoy the Power Wagon.

On the one vehicle I've had that did that, if you put it in reverse so the mirror tilts, then adjust it, it will keep that adjustment for future tilts. Just adjust it back upward, then put it in drive, then try reverse again and see if it goes back down.

The backup cam still isn't precise enough so I can put my wheels exactly where I want them in relation to the space.

I don't know about the Ram, but every car I've had with tilting mirrors only tilts in reverse when you have the manual setting on left or right.  If you have it in the center it doesn't tilt in reverse.  I agree, they are retarded.  They make it so you can't see beind you.

Bracing themselves for impact in case you hit anything backing uo [img]/images/smilies/smiley_abused.gif[/img

But seriously, its supposed to be so you can see the road and sides of your truck instead of further away when mirrors are in driving position.

I have a 19 PW, it can be turned off in the menus (safety and driving assistance IIRC). I know the layout of the 23 menus is a little different but it should be there somewhere.

Mercedes has done it for 30 years or so. You can adjust them while you’re in reverse and it will go back to that position each time.

It’s a throw back to pre back up camera days, so you can see the curb.

I can't stand it. So many customers cars do it at work. I have no idea why anyone would want to be looking at the ground while backing up.

I'd unplug my mirrors if they did that and I couldn't turn them off.
