I don't recall who posted this, but here's why:

"The G19 size/performance envelope is where a lot of lines cross for a lot of people.
- The same sight radius as a 4" K-frame.
- 16 shots/30 oz
- Excellent and controllable and deliverable accuracy across the entire pistol caliber range and down to .14 splits with basic technique.
- As close to perfectly reliable as a man-made machine can be, proven across decades, millions of users and hundreds of millions of rounds.
- The simplest and most trouble free design, detail stripped with an ink pen.
- Weatherproof.
- Tolerant of abuse, indifferent maintenance and poor to no lubrication.
- Rounded and smooth edges.
- An ecosystem of parts, accessories and holsters developed across 40 years.

From inception, Glock has pissed people off because of their "Perfection" marketing slogan, the very idea of a polymer frame ("They weren't first!" screeches HK), the not-a-1911 trigger, grip angle, plastic sights, LE sales ploys (ruthless, pseudo-ethical and brutally effective), lack of innovation and every other possible criticism that can be dreamed up by devotees of other brands - and still everything is trumpeted as "The Glock Killer".
It is The Standard to beat.

Smaller guns struggle to do what it can, and larger guns are simply larger.

Completely devoid of romance or cachet. A gun that makes no statement about its user.

A soulless killing machine."

For me, the 19 is the better concealer, but the 45/19x is a better rapid shooter.

The 19 with an extended mag is close.

I subjectively don’t like Glocks.

Objectively, the G19 is as close to the ideal handgun you can get.

You spelled HK VP9 wrong, Sir.

My 1st Glock was a G19. The VP9 is better. Anyone who can't see that is no better than a Fudd clinging to his .30-30.

Shoot able but concealable, good capacity with options for higher, accurate, dead reliable, durable, easy to use, easy to clean. Love the G19.

I’m invested in M&Ps for full-size pistols but I have to admit the Glock 19 is the standard all others strive for. I just picked this up last week, and while it’s not a “19” it’s close -

Fun to shoot, haven’t decided on optic yet.

or M&P 2.0

or CZ75

I respect the Glock 19 for what it is, but it lacks the refinements and superior ergonomics of many other handguns.

Having said that, if it was the end of the world and I had to pick one handgun, it might well be the Glock 19 due to reliability, durability, and ubiquity of parts and mags.

It however remains one of my least favorite handguns.

Same for me.  And I don’t have XL hands.   I also like my non-Glocks.   Glock is a reliable tool.

I don't like glocks that much, which is why I only have seven of them. Usually carry a PPQ or PDP... but sometimes a G19, 17 or 20. If glock were the only option it would be a fine choice.

I'm torn between 19 and 26s. 26 is definitely easier to conceal and will take any of the real glock 9mm mags (not the skinny jeans ones).

Put 7500 rounds of shit Tula through one when I got it new, no lube, no cleaning, it never hiccuped. OK, this will work.

If you like the 26 try a 3.6” M&P compact. It’s like a 26 slide on a 19 grip

They are great but they just don't fit in my hands right. Stock ergonomics just suck for me, slide release and or stop is just needlessly flat and small and I'm not spending big money for a Gucci glock to fix those issues when I can just get a Shadow for the same price.

I'll stick to my cz75 or my revolvers for life.

It's like a hammer, totally a tool, and about as boring to use.

Life is too short to drive a Honda Civic for 40 years, and so is a Glock.

You can lust over it all you like, I'll stick a Staccato CS or C on my hip and eat the 3-4oz more for a gun that makes me feel something inside.

I carry both concealed on duty. In fact this week all I’ve carried is my 17 but that doesn’t diminish my love for the 19 at all :-)

I have both a 17(Gen3 PD trade in that was never issued out) and a 19(Gen5 I picked up for $210 because the fudd pawn shop owner thought the small area of stippling for a thumb rest ruined the frame ). The 19 just seems to be better balanced on the front end, and slightly less recoil than the 17. My SA Xd Mod2 has the advantage of better ergonomics on the grip, but is slightly heavier than the 19. I wouldn’t feel undergunned with either of them.

Absolutely great guns but I've moved on from striker fire back to hammer (for reholstering mainly).

The Glock 19 is a good gun because it's designed for people who don't think about guns.  A handgun is nothing more than an encumbrance for its carriers for 99% of its life, so the Glock 19 is just small enough to be a minor inconvenience while still meeting the needlessly large capacity requirements of its purchasers, and it can receive little to no maintenance and still work.

It's not particularly ergonomic.  It's bigger than it needs to be.  Its factory sights are godawful.  The trigger is meh.  But all of that only matters to people who care about guns, which are not the people the Glock 19 is designed for.

Hold up now, the Glock 19 G3 is the best carry pistol, because it goes bang when it’s supposed to go bang and it doesn’t go bang when it is not supposed to go bang.

And it’s the one I have, so science tells us, it’s the best one.
And it has electrolytes, it’s what pistols crave.

Well first off it is not the BEST!!!!

Maybe if you have some girly hands, but the fucking grip is TOO short, G45, G19x G17 all more better in the Glock line-up.

It isn't, grip like a 2x4.
However, the PSA Dagger (Gen3 clone) w/its redesigned grip is!

Buying optional extras can improve the sights, but that's true of any pistol.  I can buy a Glock trigger that makes the trigger less mediocre.  That doesn't make the "Glock Factory Trigger" nice.

People thinking it’s still 1990.

Glock offers the 19 with four or more factory sight options.if your Glock has plastic sights it’s because you picked that sku instead of the one with Glock night sights or Ameriglo night sights.
