The Wall is a tangible demonstration of DC's relentless treachery. It crystallizes the true nature of Democrats (who want illegal votes) and the GOPe (who want cheap labor). Neither party gives a damn about citizens. Ryan didn't. Pelosi doesn't. Career parasite politicians. I expect they'll try to impeach Trump over the shutdown. In effect, they'll impeach him over the Wall. Their contempt for citizens will be crystal clear. View Quote |

The wall will easily stop 80-90 % of illegal entries intro the US. There are still about 40% that arrive here legally with immigrant and nonimmigrant visas that end up violating their status and becoming illegal aliens. The wall will stop the immediate and most direct part of our immigration system that is hemorrhaging illegal aliens (regular ones, criminal ones, and terrorist ones) badly. If you cut your self in several places, you fix the artery that is cut before you fix the veinous bleeding. The artery bleeding will cause the most immediate damage and you will bleed out in 7 minutes or less. Veinous bleeding can be attended to in due time after the major bleeding is stopped. That applies to the immigration problems that we have. Once the border is secure we can concentrate on anchor babies, chain migration, refugee fraud, employers of illegal aliens, status violators, and visa lotteries.

Quoted: OP, perhaps you can help me understand; Do you think Trump believes that we can build a wall, then disband the border patrol altogether? View Quote I'm just concerned that all the focus only seems to be for the wall when we have illegals displacing our own citizens when it comes to all aspects of our lives from welfare to school, etc.. There is absolutely no reason a school district in Maine (or anywhere else in the US) should be required to cover 32 different languages for example. To become a citizen, you must learn English. (If you go to live in Germany, you better learn German!) Now, you show up illegally, face zero repercussions, have all your needs taken care of, and automatically be better off than you ever were before. Hell, you can even kill people and walk away from charges in some cases apparently, where any regular Americans would be in jail for years. I guess I'm beyond the wall, I want to see some actual changes. No more catch and release. No more catch and nurture. No more catch and have more rights and benefits than citizens. I'm all for ending all foreign aid to South America at this point and using that money to lock it all down. I'm all for legal immigration, my great grandparents were first generation, my grandfather worked for the Immigration Service in Maine, NY and Italy. I know he's rolling over in his grave these days. Congress has been dicking around with immigration since Reagan
was in office. They've only proven that neither side is willing to deal with issue. At least The Wall will slow down the invasion somewhat. Afterward, Congress can continue to dick around for the next 30 yrs. |

Those are some ignorant comments. A wall without military troops summarily executing unarmed men, women, women, and children is not a "f*cking joke." The wall will immensely help the Border Patrol, who have never murdered any illegal aliens coming into the US as you espouse, to secure the border. They already employ sensors along the border area, but, the lack of a barrier to slow them down prevents the agents from being able to travel to the location where they are entering to arrest them, before they can get away further into the interior of the US. In any event, the president wants a border wall, which includes more agents, sensors, drones, and other electronic surveillance to enable the Border Patrol to be a lot more effective. It won't just be a wall alone, as you falsely stated. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

See, it isn't the wall that works, it's because illegals / those attempting to cross the border will be shot...... that's what works and is that what we want ? It's a fucking lie anyway. Walls actually do work even when there is not anyone waiting to shoot those attempting to defeat them. It's bullshit, a red hearing and a typical lie of the left. There are walls in place that do work without armed people on station waiting to shoot transgressors. Typical leftist BS. |

Reading some of the well thought out responses is saddening.
Saddening because people here put energy into coming up with good ideas for a problem that politicians do NOT want to solve, ever. |

Because the physical barrier is one of the oldest, most effective, and most efficient force multiplier in human history.
Doing anything to address border security without a real physical barrier is what’s stupid and wasteful. |

Is legal immigration so difficult that crossing illegally worth the risk?
If we streamlined legal means to enter the country. Wouldn't anyone crossing illegally be doing it with nefarious intent? Shit. We could declare the border a DMZ and secure it accordingly. |

Why is the focus on building a wall. The real focus should be on changing the existing immigration laws so that anchor babies no longer work for citizenship (and other issues). The wall alone will not work. I'm not saying a barrier will not be helpful, but I'm thinking the wall is part of a smoke and mirror show that won't address the core issues. Build the wall, but change the laws as well. View Quote Agree, a wall will not do anything. Also repealing citizenship for people born here would be tough as well. It would be easier to fix immigration laws that citizens can’t grant residency to parents that have crossed illegally. |

No single thing is going to fix the problem. Yes, anchor babies are a problem, but at this point it's all but impossible to get that changed. Hell, you can see just how hard it is to get a measly 5B for a wall. In my mind it's going to have to be done in this order, if it's done at all. 1. Build the wall, both physically and electronically. This will significantly slow the endless migration. 2. Fix the labor laws which will cause many to self deport. 3. End sanctuary cities. This will push even more back across the border. 4. Require proof of citizenship to vote. Then, once the demographics have changed to a significant degree, maybe birthright citizenship can be changed. View Quote |

There are still about 40% that arrive here legally with immigrant and nonimmigrant visas that end up violating their status and becoming illegal aliens. 40% of the folks who came here legally did not leave. (It is *actually* -per Trumps DHS- 51% but hey). Each year. Each year. That number is huge. And it goes up and up and up. Year after year after year. AND A WALL WONT STOP IT. These are folks Trump is bringing here to work at his hotels and properties. These are folks Tyson Chicken brings here... Half don't leave. for 2018, half stayed. 2017, half stayed. On and on back through the years. Why is Trump, who works for Trump Corp, talking about a short fence in exchange for DACA benefits? Why isn't Trump talking about the *real* problem: EMPLOYERS DRIVING IMMIGRANTS HERE LEGALLY, AND THEY DONT LEAVE? Bottom line: Cheap labor. Quoted:
The wall will stop the immediate and most direct part of our immigration system that is hemorrhaging illegal aliens (regular ones, criminal ones, and terrorist ones) badly. And Trump has now put DACA on the table to get his fence. Laughable. Laughable. The problem is employers (Trump has admitted to being one) who bring cheap labor here on visas. And they don't leave. Employers and welfare are the problem. Trump is not offering a solution to the *real* issues with the border. Quoted:

That applies to the immigration problems that we have. Once the border is secure we can concentrate on anchor babies, chain migration, refugee fraud, employers of illegal aliens, status violators, and visa lotteries. Trumps, "border wall," crisis is an invented crisis. The *real* crisis is the massive numbers of illegals already here. (Trump is promising DACA benefits). Employers who *literally* drive immigrants here (legally) for work. (Trump Corp is one). Welfare benefits to illegals once they come, and don't leave. Those are the three elements of the crisis at the border. A distant fourth is a physical barrier at the border... Which I support... But it is absolutely meaningless without going-after the first three issues driving immigration. I support a physical barrier at the border. I cannot support Trumps, 'Fence for DACA' deal... It is a bad deal, just like the rest of Trumps deals (failed to over-turn Obamacare, failed to put Hillary in Prison, failed to find, "the best people)… Trump is just one bad deal after another... |
