after 44 years of doing construction nothing surprises me.
one of my best ones was when I ran a call for GC that sent me to give a quote on a job he was looking to take over after the HO thought the remodel he and his handyman/cough fake contractor were doing maybe a bit more than they could handle.
when I got there this guy was fiddling around with a 90 pound jack hammer. he was working on chipping away a column that supported a tie beam that was 24 feet in one direction and 16 feet in the other that was all concrete and rebar and as soon as I saw him I yelled at him to stop thinking it was some really dumbass labor that was about to drop several tons of concrete on his head. I asked him who he was and he said the HO and he was about to fire his handyman gc because he went up at 5 instead of finishing taking down the column that the two of them were working on. I quickly called my GC and told him that home owner was about to kill himself. I asked the HO to wait till the gc got there to discuss the job he was doing, when he found out I saved him from getting hurt or worse we got a no bid contract for the job
