Brought back? There are still living short faced bear species today.

I have a Springfield 1873. It couldn't even defeat indians.

Does that count?

Yea, naw I'm part of the modern era and use a round for modern men such as myself, the .348 Winchester.

Irish Elk.

Personally, I'd like to see Smilodon and dire wolves brought back.

Rolling block 45/70, Italian reproduction, good shooter. 525 grain cast slug over 70 grains of FFg black powder.

Ought to get the job done. Wouldn't care to take on two bears at once though!

Id love one too but I wager something like that would be pricey.

~500 for a multiple shot lever action.

~2k+ For a single shot.

Hmmm.

In 2016 Walmart was discontinuing the M1895 for $295. With a $50 rebate I got mine for $249. I also bought 100 rounds of ammo for it. Sadly, it’s all still NIB as I’ve never shot it. It sits quietly in my safe waiting for the day that I’ll shoot it.

The polar/ grizzly hybrids showing up in Alaska are convincing enough for a big bore lever gun.

It will change your thinking on all other hunting...It is a huge adrenaline rush.. By far my favorite is spring hunting on sleds when they first leave the den...We get to legally bait  grizzlies in one area..bait station is boring compared to hunting them on sleds but still a rush...

Den  for a sow and cubs..they are up in the far left corner of the pic...

Yeah no. 440 pound max with a 250 pound average is tiny. Just because it’s related doesn’t mean much. We are talking about giant beasts four times that big.

Hmmm.. I've had a Marlin .45-70 for a couple of decades,Haven't shot it in 5 years or so though. I need to get the barrel threaded and put the hybrid on it. I'm pretty sure a subsonic .45-70 round would still be plenty for our whitetails.
