Since we're complaining, one of the biggest ice picks in my ears is when people use family placement as a proper noun.

"Bring this to Sister."

"Get Brother to take you outside."

"Ask Daddy if he can get your ice cream."

I don't usually worry too much about how people choose to live their lives but I question everything about you if I hear you do that.

In the case of "daddy" what should the child use as a term instead?  Father?  Pops?  It's all the same, unless you go with having your children call you by your actual first names...

I remember when the LBFM was the prized commodity.   But it was mainly used in the Asian context, and always in a complimentary way.

I mean, I don't so much care if a (little) kid says mommy or daddy (although momma/mom and dad still sound better to me).  My complaint is parents using those terms TO the kids.

Kid:  Can I go play outside?

Dad:   Go ask Mommy.

Kid:  Can we go see a movie?

Mom:  Go ask Daddy.

Just seems so infantile.

I mean, my grandmother used to call her husband Daddy in a baby talk voice.  "Daddy, will you fix me another glass of tea?"  She also said she had to *use the little girls room* when she needed to go to the bathroom.  And she had legit mental health issues.  Maybe that's why it bugs me so much.

What if it is in the context of: "buy me a shot of tequila, papi?"

I think any use of a *father* term in a sexual way is disgusting but even that's more acceptable to me.

I tend to agree.

The main bar I used to frequent before it closed, one of the waitresses that I was friends with called me "daddy" one night after hours.

"First of all, we are the same age; but more importantly, if you call me that again, we will no longer remain friends."

The daddy thing is really weird when it's adults. Women tend to do that about their dads. But hearing a 55 year old woman call her dad, daddy is just weird. It's a southern thing though. Still irks me

Nope.

The secret to being married to a Latina:

1.  Do not treat her like shit.
2.  Do not treat her like shit after drinking too much cerveza.
3.  If you drink cerveza, don’t drink Coors or Bud light because she will lose respect for you due to your shitty taste in domestic beer.
4.  Do not allow her to work in a meat packing plant if the job involves weilding sharp knives
5.  Keep her busy in the kitchen making salsa and enchiladas.
6.  Grill meat on the grill at least once a week.  Eat.  Have intercourse with her by inserting your clean, white, circumcised penis into her vagina as an expression of appreciation for her domesticated role in your marriage.
7.  Take her out to dinner every fiscal quarter.
8.  Rinse, and repeat.

Not sure why any of this is so hard to figure out?

LBFMs are somewhat rare now.  Once Clark AFB and Subic Bay shut down…

ETA:  There’s still Souse Korea, and there’s still some knock-out head turners that come from there ;)

It seems like overnight I've seen a large uptick in the term "wife unit".  This strikes me as strange thing to call your wife. Does it only apply if your wife is large aka a "unit"?  It doesn't sound like a term I'd apply to petite women.

Pretty sure it dates back to "carbon units" from the Original Star Trek movie.  25 years ago, kids in my high school refered to their parents as "parental units"

Yeah, I've been a ham over 40 years, and don't use the term. I do hear others use it, but it's not my style.

Female hams have a YL organization with nets, so they must be used to the term.

I just call her my wife, and sometimes we tease each other with old man/old lady because we're old.
