While I disagree with it in principle, I'll take the money to offset the cost of the stuff I've had to buy (and will have to buy) for my job/ unit.

I paid in 30k in combined taxes.  I've got zero qualms about having some of what was stolen from me returned.

Married. Four kids. Just shy of $150K.

The economic system is going into the toilet. It would be stupid to turn down an opportunity to add to the stack...

I already spent it.
No guilt was felt that day.

This, I have been paying in for decades, for maybe 10 years we have got a small bonus check at work once a year, don’t get me wrong I am happy to get what I get, but they tax that damn thing at almost 40%, like I am some CEO or Wall Street high roller, always sat very wrong with me.

I intend to use mine to boost the economy.  A lot of people are out of work and I could use some help framing a basement.

Wife and I make too much.  If I did qualify I'd take it for sure.  It's money I paid into the system.  It not a welfare situation where I'm sucking off of others.

I don’t think I’m getting one.

But my principles see nothing wrong with getting a small check that will offset some of the $25,000 in taxes I paid in 2018. I would just be getting my own money back.

It's not the end of the world, but lets not pretend it's something other than income redistribution. That doesn't mean that you should turn it down if you are eligible, but praising it does mean you support the idea of income redistribution.

This. Everybody is like 'muh socialism!', except this isnt a vote buying scheme. In fact. You can clearly see the difference between giving you your money back as a one time disaster relief package, and the liberal version which doubles the amount and loads the bill with pork. The liberal version is clearly holds people hostage and tacks a bribe at the end of it.

And before 'muh free market!' Im sorry, but it never existed in the purest utopian iron fist corporate form you pretend is the best thing ever. You realize a truly free economy would have zero global protections against players like china?

But sure. Let global panic completely gut our economy because while you pretend a one-time stimulus is the socialist anti-christ.

It's not the end of the world, but lets not pretend it's something other than income redistribution. That doesn't mean that you should turn it down if you are eligible, but praising it does mean you support the idea of income redistribution.

1. Get a check from social security for retirement after paying taxes all your life is welfare and bad.

2. Get a stimulus check for paying taxes all you life is good and you deserve it.

But, but, but that money was already spent! Here's a clue, they already spent it, .gov doesn't have 2 tril sitting around.

Hypocrites.

you paid taxes.

it is your money.

will you refuse social security when you are old enough?

Why would I refuse my own money ?

I've paid to support poor/lazy/inept people my entire career. I have zero debt, and owe nothing to the government or anyone else. I don't think a massive 'stimulus' is the answer here, but I'll take their as payment for my services rendered. I don't really care anymore. My life doesn't really change no matter who is in office. I want Trump to win, I like watching the hilarious skewering of the media and democrats, but my family and our needs come first. It's not like I'm gonna go blow it on stupid shit, I'll probably just stick it back into the bank to offset the truck I just paid cash for.

Of course I'll accept it.

There's nothing morally wrong with accepting money that you didn't support the redistribution of.

I'm against giving most people other people's money and don't support it.  But I'll be overridden by the masses that suck at math.

I'm against Social Security and do what I can to convince people in the error of that program's ways.  But I'll be overridden by masses of people that demand that the program continue because they had money taken from them so so they insist younger people get money taken from them.

Unless a person insists that Social Security remain but is against the stimulus because it's a wealth redistribution plan then there is no hypocrisy.

Morality has nothing to do with it. I don't morally support them taking my taxes for SS but as long as they are willing to redistribute I will take SS.

That's how it works for both. My point was for the people that think the opposite from your last sentence.

So you mad I'm willing to accept a check from the government made with my tax dollars that I'm going to use to pay the taxes I owe?

I started paying fed taxes and into SS starting in '65. I assure you I will gleefully spend every nickle of what scratch we get on top shelf spirits and the finest of fare.
