Would not go if there was a 100% success rate. What is so special about Mars? -there are barren red deserts right here on Earth if that is the desired landscape.

Nope. Manned Mars missions are a waste of resources at this time.
We could put a nuclear power/water/oxygen/hydrogen plant on Ceres for less than it would cost to put a man on Mars and bring him back. Maybe if I didn't have a family I'd go just to be the guy who went. |

A one-way trip to colonize Mars? Hell no. Read the Red Mars / Green Mars / Blue Mars trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson. It's science fiction, but illuminating as to psychological and societal issues that come into play when you give up Earth for a one-way trip to Mars (for colonization). |
