Blanks for Can Launhers
M200 spec blanks
Gilf ball launching blanks (Stronger)
Even Stronger golf ball blanks
Full power M195 “grenade” launching blanks

http://www.atlanticwallblanks.com/Golf-Ball-Can-launching-Inert-Grenade-Launching_c_15.html

If you were launching solid objects (balls, ice/cement/chalk filled cans, etc...) I wonder how powerful of a blank the F5 upper can fire without the barrel exploding.

Ordered a bunch of those a couple days ago. Will be paying attention to their site statement about not using in can cannon. Likely there for a reason. Especially the full power grenade blanks. I will use them in the golf ball tube.

I ordered a generic 15" long FF tube for golf ball use. Golf balls are a bit looser than I wanted. Will but making a wadding or dipping them In tool handle dip to tighten them up. I have to jb weld the holes on the barrel nut shut first as well.

Got to figure out how to test it for a 100 or so rounds without actually holding the gun. There is a machine shop locally that may be able to make or get me a tube that is 1.79 wide if they can. I may see about a barrel nut and just do it similar to how 5f makes them.

I have a spare steel one as well. If they can get the tube made out of steel (ideally stainless) then I'll weld it and make this thing strong as hell. Won't have to worry about it coming apart.

Also bought 6 tennis balls today. Filling one with epoxy now.

I have to get the regular ones here and get a feel for the whole thing, but eventually I’d maybe like to make a quasi-mortar with one.

I’m thinking either the regular AR15 type or maybe an AR10.  Fab up a base plate and put a ball socket of some kind on the end of a shortened buffer tube.

It’d kinda hinge on finding a kit for the legs and sights without paying a fortune.  By going to a mortar, you eliminate the felt recoil by putting it on the ground.

An AR10 receiver with a stainless launch tube like qwezxc12’s barrel  (https://www.ar15.com/forums/general/X-Products-Can-Cannon--now-an-F5-thread-/5-2122881/#i73135020 ) could likely handle full power rifle grenade blanks with ease.

Attachment Attached File

You could use some sabots to help with the pressure, and a full power 7.62 grenade blank and a longer barrel would probably have a much longer range.lol

I’ll wait till I make my bones on the regular one like everybody else before I decide though.

ETA: not claiming the original idea.  I vaguely recall discussing it before.  It just stuck in my head.  Mighta been Skillets that mentioned it.

Now that I have the device in hand, it looks simple enough to copy, so I will probably make one in 308 to go on a spare FAL receiver.

I have a metric tons of 308 blanks.

You don't need to crimp the end if you single load them.  You can put a tuft of TP or similar in to keep the powder in.  I loaded mine on the spot and didn't bother, just loaded them one at a time with the barrel up so the powder couldn't fall out.

Hornady crimp die results. The brass case is loaded, ready to go.  The drop of green paint is to seal off the TINY hole in the center, not really needed...

The steel case was a test, it crimped the same as brass, even felt the same on the press stroke. I don't see it damaging the dies in anyway. But, it's Wolf and berdan primed. I'm not investing in berdan tools or primers...
I do have some yet to be fired, Tula steel case that's boxer primed. I'll make blanks out of them at some point to try out.

I’m thinking X-products was just a middle man actually.

F5 makes them and X-products sold them with their logo?  Once they pissed people off then F5 just went direct.  Could be wrong though.  Either way I’m already in, so I’m not going to worry about it,

Well,

Since it looks like it's going to be "Hate on F5/XProducts" time again, might as well share.

After ordering on Sunday the 1st when their website said 13 were in stock, I still haven't gotten anything. I got immediate notification that a shipping label had been created, could see it on USPS tracking, (still can) and no updates after that. I contacted their customer service through the website contact form on Sunday the 8th, figuring a week, especially considering the 4th of July holiday was Wednesday, was a fair lead time before I started asking questions.

I'll note that friends here in WI with me that ordered one on Monday the 2nd had gotten theirs by Friday the 7th...

I was initially encouraged when Jef" contacted me via email rather quickly by the morning of Monday the 9th, and said he'd look into it and promised me an update sometime in the latter half of the day.  He did not respond until 7pm Central my time, 5pm Pacific his time, and that was after I'd prompted him with another email. He said they'd been having problems with USPS and to give it a few more days. So I gave USPS two more days to deliver, Tuesday and Wednesday evening. Nothing.

So I contacted him again Wednesday evening after the mail had come, mentioning that I had hoped to use the Can Cannon at a cookout/shoot with other Arfcommers this coming Saturday the 14th (tomorrow) and that almost two weeks seemed more than enough time for it to have gotten to me. And I further mentioned that I'd only really be able to use the Can Cannon at such events, because my neighborhood is far too urban, and my gun club would not allow it. "Jeff" promised to ship one out via FedEx so it would get to me by today. Nada. And now it's Friday night, and I didn't receive any tracking information, and FedEx has nothing on their website's delivery manager subscription page indicating they have anything in transit for my name and address anywhere.

So if Jeff or anyone else from F5 is reading this, I don't think F5 is being "rude" or "mean" intentionally here, but I am pretty certain at this point that you are a bunch of fuckups.

Ordered June 29th, was sent an email with a Fedex number July 2nd, Fedex says it still hasn't been handed over. It showed in-stock when I ordered as well. Similarly I was planning to use it at a get together next weekend. I intend to contact them as soon as I can get a hold of them. We'll see if it actually shows up. 2+ week wait for an item your website says is in-stock is bad enough, but hearing other customers' orders have been filled and delivered just adds insult to injury.

Yeah, its getting a wood Remington 1100 stock when it arrives. I thought about side-charging, but I dont want to drill/tap the proprietary bolt-carrier. At least this way, it's a pistol, I can make a rifle, change it back, do whatever. More flexibility.

I wonder if you could use a dab of silicone or caulk, in place of the crimp then the cases would still be reloadable, and you would not have to worry about them getting jostled around, and losing the powder....

Eta, maybe a small roll crimp to ease feeding, just throwing ideas out there.

You don't need to crimp the end if you single load them.  You can put a tuft of TP or similar in to keep the powder in.  I loaded mine on the spot and didn't bother, just loaded them one at a time with the barrel up so the powder couldn't fall out.
I wonder if you could use a dab of silicone or caulk, in place of the crimp then the cases would still be reloadable, and you would not have to worry about them getting jostled around, and losing the powder....

Eta, maybe a small roll crimp to ease feeding, just throwing ideas out there.
Seems like that silicone or caulk would end up jammed and plugged somewhere
Yep. If the chamber throat didnt have a pin sticking thru it, and, the barrel end was open, I would feel comfy using a wad of some sort. I'll just stick to using my kind of expensive blank crimp dies....
