This.

I am attempting to educate everyone around me to what the Progressives have been/are doing.

And it starts with re-learning the founding of this country.  Do not let anyone ever tell you this is not a special country.  We ARE.

Or at least were.

And we WILL be again!

Most here are blaming just one man, Obama, for the way this country is spiraling the drain.
It's a massive number of bought and paid for politicians in Washington DC that also share the blame.
Our gov't is no longer of the people.
It takes a mega millionaire or someone who is owned by a rich individual or group to become elected.
Until that changes, and we have an unbiased news media, we are going to continue being fucked by the crooks in Washington.

How many Congressmen and Senators got large campaign contributions from lobbyists working for the Chinese to get that bill passed?

I was just giving my young'un a lesson on ethanol.  In order to grow corn for the hippies, the corn growers use that Round-Up Ready corn, engineered to shrug off Round Up and grow tall with nary a weed growing around it ... nor anything else.  No rats, no mice, no moles, no pheasants, no quail , no nuttin'.  Ploughed blacktop to blacktop, from sea to shining sea.

All so the hippies and PETA-pukes can feel good about ethanol.    Speaking of PETA, they ain't a rodent left once them 60 mph disc ploughs roll though - they kill everything in their path ... for the Vegans.

If I got this wrong, please correct me.

Add in the gallon or so of diesel used in the processing of a gallon of ethanol, and the 7 gallons of water.... Sounds like an environmental travesty!

Ethanol is another form of rape the large agricultural companies are putting on the American public  by buying politicians in Washington.
It's having repurcussions around the world, not just here in the US. We are the bread basket of the world.
Two years ago I bought a ton of corn for deer feeders. It cost a little of $200. Last week end I bought 1000 lbs of corn and it cost the same, a little over $200.
Corn has doubled in the last two years, simply because of the ethanol BS.
Al Gore is several times richer today than when he was Vice President. He wealth has doubled several times since he took up the environmentalist cause.
We're being screwed every day in so many ways by corrupt politicians and unethical business it's unbelievable.
Again, how could a thief like Madoff run a Ponzi scheme for years and cause the loss of $50 BILLION when we have gov't agencies like the SEC?
They were paid off to look the other way and/or he owned too many politicians.
Washington DC is corrupt to it's very foundations.

Seriously, nothing short of a revolution is going to change things.
We are a divided nation. We have those with entitlements - welfare, gov't workers, those in education, illegal immigrants, etc vs those who produce the strength of this country - the working class.
And the working class is rapidly changing from the middle class to the working poor because we are being raped so much by gov't.
Or rather by gov't politicians directed by the business interests that own them.

What else is there to do? I have plenty of things in my life to get pissed off about, but most of the things happening in our country, and around the world that I can't do anything about, don't do much more than entertain me. It used to be more emotional for me but the more I looked into the why's and how's the more I realized just how futile efforts to try and change it would be. I'd rather use the time to prepare for the adaptations a lot of will be forced to undertake.

I don't think this country has any other choice but to transform more and more into a system with less and less individual freedom. This planet is dominated by countries that do not put individual freedoms first and over time we have been invested by those influences. Unless a massive unscrammbling of the brains of the masses or a natural or universal disaster of massive proportions unfolds, nothing is going to change that path.

We could have another revolution or maybe another country somewhere will and implore the type of freedom our fore fathers set forth for us, but there is a very small chance it will happen in our lifetimes or even our children's. I don't see the comfortability of this country changing enough even after we suffer through the downturn most of this world will be feeling in our very near future (unless we lose the next world war...).

Obama Deficit Plan to Call for $1.5 Trillion in Taxes

President Barack Obama will call for $1.5 trillion in tax increases mostly targeting the wealthy over the next decade as part of a plan to cut the U.S federal deficit by $3 trillion, administration officials said.

Obama’s plan, which he is scheduled to unveil at 10:30 a.m. Washington time today at the White House, will form his recommendations to the 12-member congressional committee charged with finding ways to trim at least $1.5 trillion from the deficit. The panel has a Nov. 23 deadline to reach a deal.

The proposal puts Obama in direct conflict with Republican congressional leaders such as House Speaker John Boehner, who last week said his party wouldn’t accept tax increases and urged the bipartisan supercommittee to focus on scaling back entitlement programs such as the Medicare health-insurance plan for the elderly.

Obama will threaten to veto any deficit plan that reduces Medicare benefits unless wealthy Americans also are asked to pay more in taxes, according to the officials, who briefed reporters on condition of anonymity. While Obama will include Medicare-benefit cuts in his proposal, the administration will insist on tax increases as a condition, they said.

The administration and congressional Republicans are at odds over how to re-ignite the economy, drive down unemployment and grapple with the nation’s long-term deficit. Administration forecasters project the U.S. economy will grow at a sluggish 1.7 percent rate this year and the jobless rate will average 9.1 percent in 2011 and show little change in 2012, when the presidential election takes place.
Medicare Eligibility

To deal with the deficit, Obama won’t support any increase in the eligibility age for Medicare, as he did while trying to negotiate a broad deficit-reduction package with Boehner in July, said one of the administration officials. The officials said Obama only accepted the measure as a concession to Republicans to assure speedy passage of an increase in federal borrowing authority to avert a U.S. debt default.

The administration officials declined to specify what Medicare-benefit cuts Obama will propose, though one said the administration has previously supported a sliding scale of premiums based on income level.

Obama will seek $248 billion in Medicare cuts, including reductions in payments to health-care providers and $72 billion in savings from the Medicaid state-federal health program for the poor, the officials said.
Social Security Untouched

The president won’t propose changes to Social Security, White House officials said. Before negotiations with Boehner fell apart during the summer, Obama accepted altering Social Security’s cost-of-living adjustment formula, which would have lowered annual benefit increases.

Obama also plans to adopt billionaire investor Warren Buffett’s suggestion that the nation’s “mega-wealthy” pay more taxes, prompting one leading Republican to accuse the president of engaging in “class warfare.”

The provision, which the White House is calling the Buffett rule after the 81-year-old chairman and chief executive officer of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., would require taxpayers with incomes of $1 million or more pay at least the same percentage in taxes as middle-income Americans, according to an administration official.

“Class warfare will simply divide this country more,” Republican Representative Paul Ryan, chairman of the House Budget Committee, said on the “Fox News Sunday” program. “It will attack job creators, divide people, and it doesn’t grow the economy.”

Are they getting ready for round two?

Primary Dealer Treasury Holdings Surge At Fastest Pace Since Summer 2007 Market Peak In Anticipation Of Twisting, Market Dump

Back in the summer of 2007 two important things happened: the market hit an all time high, and the smart money realized what was about to happen (following the subprime and the Bear hedge fund blow up, it was pretty clear to all but Jim Cramer) and bailed out of stocks and into bonds, with Treasury holdings of Primary Dealers soaring at the fastest pace in history. Well according to the Fed, in the past few months Dealer holdings of Treasurys due in more than a year have soared by a whopping $90 billion, from a $75 billion short on May 6 to a $15.1 billion long on September 7. As Bloomberg reminds us, "the last time dealers bought bonds at such a rapid pace was between July 2007 and September 2007, as losses on subprime mortgages began to infect credit markets and the central bank unexpectedly cut interest rates." Also, as noted above, all hell was about to break loose. So what explains this surge in Dealer bond holdings? Well, expectations for said hell breaking loose all over again is one reason, as is the imminent announcement of Twist, QE3+, and who knows what else Bernanke has up his endless sleeve that will make the 2s10s as close to inverted as possible, putting Bank of America permanently out of business. To quote from Bloomberg again, "The problems are endless” for the economy, William O’Donnell, head U.S. government bond strategist at RBS Securities Inc., a primary dealer, said in a Sept. 13 telephone interview. “What will surprise people is how long this period lasts of very, very low rates.” Judging by leading market indications, perhaps people will not be surprised after all.

China pulls the rug out from under Europe

A flurry of headlines out of China suggest global macro-economic volatility may be ready to take it to the next level. We discussed last weekhow China's oh-so-generous offer of help to Europe was merely a veiled threat playing US against Europe in a game of who-gets-the-funding. Well, tonight, it seems, they are making good on some of those threats.

A big market-making state bank in China's onshore foreign exchange market has stopped foreign exchange forwards and swaps trading with several European banks due to the unfolding debt crisis in Europe, two sources told Reuters on Tuesday.

The European banks include French lenders Societe Generale , Credit Agricole and BNP Paribas.

"Apart from spot trading, all swaps and forwards trading (with the European banks) have been stopped," one source who is familiar with the matter told Reuters.
