Instead, you chose to get drunk or stoned, and conjure up your legions of fantasy communists, to future kill the rich. (Something You would never actively do of course). Well, thanks for the brutal honesty. View Quote Lol I just saw the rest of this looking for something else. First of all, no thanks, I'm good. I don't need to be told to go learn a trade or go start a business or anything like that. And since the whole reason I came into this thread was to laugh at you, quiet introspection was never on the menu. Second, whats this stuff about "legions of fantasy communists"? On the one hand, I don't necessarily believe everything I was taught in History class is 100% no-cap, but I'm pretty sure the revolutions I was referring to happened. Probably, idk, I've never really considered that maybe things like Mao's Cultural Revolution or the Bolshevik revolution in Russia could be hoaxes. Big if true. I also did quite explicitly say that I have contempt for those people like you wouldn't believe, and that I won't be helping them if it happens again. What about the moon landing? Was that fake too? Does that even ring a bell, or did I just dream that it happened? |

Quoted: IDK man, if you take some of the wild assumptions made about me in this thread (which are pretty funny) for granted, geoology must be straight gravy. Here's the secret: it actually is kinda gravy. The starter jobs dont pay great, but they are also kinda like a form of hazing. Compared to being a private in the Infantry, a rookie on a college rugby team, or a fraternity pledge, or even a new guy on a shop floor full of tradies, its not that bad. For someone who has done all of those things, the guys and girls that cant hang for a year would be absolutely befuddling if I hadn't known people who are the exact same character tropes in college. Literally the hardest thing they have ever had to overcome in their life was minerology. There's parts of the cycle where its very difficult to get hired on for your first job (which is why I have experience as a tradie), or if you aren't very much on top of your shit you're probably getting laid off. On the flip side, I think the time I spent turning a wrench made my current job a lot easier than it is for guys that come straight out of school and have never been in anything resembling this environment before. Over twice corrected for inflation. He cannot afford/have the same life for his kids/family that I did at the same stage of his career. About five years ago I spent a few years working with a professional at a similar stage. He render bought land near me and built a home. It is almost finished. He makes closer to 500K. I’m not saying he doesn’t have a million dollar home. But he has half the acreage, and a similar sized home with no barn, detached shop/garage, or pool. His wife also has a stem Ph.D. And brings in about another 120K a year for 9 months work a year. How much more successful do you need to be to have the same achievements and rewards I did in their shoes 20 years ago? Not even considering I was working at a discount for uncle same because there was a war on. |
