You should have stayed on the other side!!!" or Start blowing into my Aztec Death Whistle while getting naked so I can charge into battle. Look at the camera first and then turn on the 2-way audio....."what do you want?"

I jump out of bed with enthusiasm and sprint directly to a potential hazard!

I live on a ranch out on property in the woods.
The dag would let me know who's around. Last night we had a pack of wolves on the state land behind me start howling and my damn dog start howling with them! Woke everyone up. |

Quoted: I look at the Ring camera before doing anything else. View Quote This, Quoted: I don't answer, but I'm certainly already armed, so I sit in the dark to see what happens next. View Quote Then this... I sincerely hope to never have to shoot anyone, however, if someone chooses to bust into my house, I can only assume they mean my family or myself harm and in that case, I'm glad we have the Missouri Castle Doctrine. Again, I just hope to never use it. |

Quoted: After a LEO opened the door to a late knocker and got killed, my Boss made it a point to point out how dumb it is to open the door after 9pm In my case, I call the dispatcher And see if there is an LEO outside (Rural LEO work is totally different Than big city) If not, have them start a LEO Arm yourself Don't turn on any lights If they are coming in for the wrong reasons, they will make entry Having said that Make 2am house calls suck outside of town I would pull into a residence and turn on the rear yellow wig wag lights I always had a unit with a lightbar It doesn't blind anyone But it gives the homeowner an idea who is there Several times I was as met by a homeowner with a pistol or shotgun View Quote |

The sheriff has my number. They call a fair bit since my house is close to a really bad Ranch Road intersection that has some pretty spectacular wrecks. I can verify things just by looking out of the kitchen if some panicky idiot is calling 911 and isn't sure where the hell he is.

Quoted: "My car broke down, can I use your phone " will be the last thing you hear before the home invasion. View Quote Kinda doubt it though. I'd probably say, I get that you are in need of help and I want to help. So, I have called the Sheriff's Dept for both our safety. If you really need help have a seat on the porch and wait, if you had something else on you mind, I'd seriously advise against it and that you beat feet. I will protect my house and my family. |

Well I'd probably answer via video since I have a Ring. But if I was physically going to the door, yes.
I have had this happen, it was a kid walking to work at ~4:30am who got robbed. At the time I was working nights but home, so I was up. He saw my lights on and came to my door. |

Quoted: Why or course I'd be unarmed, Mr. FBI man. I have a strict rule about no guns are to be out in my house after dark. That's a big nope. View Quote Attached File |

This happened to me about 9 years ago. We lived in a three story row home and about 3AM the doorbell starts ringing over and over along with pounding on the door. Bedrooms on the third floor, I grabbed a pistol and made my way downstairs. Went to the window at the second floor and noticed a group of cops standing on our stairs. I set the pistol down and went down to open the door.
Apparently someone was shot and killed across the street at the park and was found at the bank of the river. Next morning was my daughters first birthday party, so that was an interesting story explaining the police tape sectioning off a large part of the park outside our place. We moved the next year when our lease was up. |

Quoted: Should not have let the wife do the talking. Bad guy could have interpreted that as a woman home alone and an easy target. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Happened at my old house. I grabbed a pistol and took a defensive , concealed position behind the wall. My wife pulled the ring doorbell up and it was a crackhead looking guy looking for the neighbor girl (who I suspect was dealing drugs). My wife told him wrong house and to go the fuck away. He left. I stayed in the living room with my pistol until he left the neighbors house. We moved shortly after. Ring doorbell was fantastic in that scenario. Should not have let the wife do the talking. Bad guy could have interpreted that as a woman home alone and an easy target. That's called hunting over bait. |

I wouldn’t go to the door. My first move is to grab suppressed ar and stand in the middle of my families bedrooms. Then look at one of 3 cameras I have out front, one of which I can speak on.

I have a gun in a cupboard by my door. ANY unexpected knock at any time and it's in arm's reach. Lots of druggies in my AO.

Happened once when I was in my 20s. Apparently douche bag neighbor was banging on door and yelling fiancee (at the time) called out to me while sleeping bit I slept through it apparently. She told me the next day and I scolded her. Said "Next time you shake me the fuck awake I don't care how early I have to work."

Yes, but I'm always armed anyway. It would be no different than if I were stepping outside to check the weather. Either you carry, or you don't.
|
|
Check out the arlo, sneak out the back door, come around to the front and then assfuck at gunpoint whoever woke me up.

That insinuates they got past the claymores. You're gonna have a bad time.

My driveway is several hundred feet long. I would also be notified before you rang the bell. My GSD has great hearing

Sling AR SBR after function checking WML and optic. 6. Pocket cell phone. Might need to call for a cleanup crew when this is over. 7. Pre-stage tourniquets around both arms and legs but keep them loose. Just in case. 8. Toss on bail out bag. Who knows, Maybe the Chinese invaded / parachuted in and I need to bug out and live in the woods at Site Charlie. 9. Wake up and realize I was dreaming and need to be to work at McDonalds in about an hour. Them patties aint gonna flip themselves. |

Look out the window.
Last time there was a cop car in the driveway, and it was a cop telling me my mailbox had been fucked up by some teens from a party down the street. Kharn |

The security system lets me know before they make it to the door

I ALWAYS answer my door armed, and Leon style. ALWAYS.
I should add that I have found a fucking bum sleeping on my front porch, and a few months ago, found a homeless bitch just staring at my front door, and she never knocked, my dogs just started freaking out at the door. I asked her what her major malfunction was, and she said: "shoes, I need shoes. Do you have any?" That's why I always answer the door like Leon. |
|
I mean, I'd check the cameras so I know what I'm walking into. But yes, always take a firearm with.
|
|
If they ring the doorbell, then I have 3 other doors I can go outside from and sneak up on them.
|
|
it doesn't matter what time it is... I'm armed when ever I answer the door.
|
|
Defense in depth.
If they’re ringing my doorbell, I’ve already allowed them to approach. |
|
To the door?
Fuck no. Take up defensive position while calling 911 to articulate that I am in fear for my life? Fuck yes. If law enforcement is on scene then dispatch is likely to know and they can advise me over the phone. Otherwise I am watching fatal funnel with 12 gauge slugs and backup mags for handgun. |

I had this happen last night.
It was a neighbor; I couldn't believe it! He interrupted my guitar practice. |
