$30K. That is a total ripoff. View Quote It is a little steep but given rarity and condition, it is worth what someone will pay for it. A local importer had a RHD, Diesel Dub cab 87 4x4 that looked like a 4 door clone of my current 87 4x4. Same color, shell, winch bumper etc. They wanted $19k for it and I was really tempted. Until I found out it couldn't be titled in California. Legal federally but not in my state. Most JDM imports are a no go for us. |

I just wonder where this person came up with the 30k price tag. Must be he missed the part where you can buy a new truck with 0 miles on it for less than 30k.

You can't just walk out and buy this truck in the U.S., and they are highly sought after. I wouldn't pay it, but I bet someone will. |

You can't buy a hilux with 0 miles for less than 30k. No but i'm pretty sure you can buy a 25 year old one for a lot less than 30k. My point is that is an old vehicle. Yes, they last forever and put ozone back into the atmosphere according to most people. But it is still a 25 year old vehicle. And let's pretend by some miracle something actually breaks. What is the timeline to get parts? Or availability of parts period? The person who pays 30k for this needs to have his head checked. |

I'm working in Australia right now and have thought about sending a couple of vehicles back it's not cheap. I especially want a 70 series LC with the camper conversion. |

Yes, if it is 25 years old or older. http://www.japaneseclassicsllc.com Too bad none can be registered in California. Pretty much because they do not meet smog requirements. Probably more because they have no baseline standards in their smog database. That and the state LOATHES the idea of older vehicles being on the road. They make it extremely hard to keep a vehicle from 1975 to about 1995 on the road. |

Pretty sweet truck. I do get the appeal of hiluxes.
Since they can all be imported at this point though (that year), I'd rather hunt my own down somewhere and import it. If that truck were cheaper, say $20k local or $15k there, I'd buy it today (and get on a plane if necessary). $30k is steep, but someone will probably pay it or come close. |
