Here is the Spotting Round for the SMAW:





To make these rounds with "off the shelf" components, start with a 308 case (7.62 NATO), then expand up the neck from 7.62mm to 9mm.

Then  modify the head,  so that a .22 Hornet case fits inside the modified 308 case.

But instead of a .22 Hornet round or case,  use a special .22 Hornet blank cartridge.   Then use a special 9mm tracer bullet.

Simple!
