In Harms Way
Sands of Iwo Jima They Were Expendable The Shootist The Searchers |

In Harm's Way - Duke's acting even impressed Premeinger.
The Commancheros - Duke and Lee Marvin. Awesome. The Alamo - Historically laughable but the Flaca speech should be required ARF viewing. True Grit - Duke's only Oscar. So many quoteable lines. "I always go backwards when I'm backing away!!" The Quite Man - My Irish grandmother made me watch this every St. Patrick's Day. Duke, John Ford and a great cast firing on all cylinders. |
All of them. Get started now because it’s going to be a long weekend.
Hard to have a favorite, when he only has the one character.
But, I always liked The Horse Soldiers & Rio Bravo. And True Grit goes without saying I suppose. |
Island in the Sky
The Fighting Sea Bees The Cowboys The Comancheros The Wings of Eagles 3 Godfathers |
True Grit
Quiet Man Rio Bravo El Dorado Cavalry trilogy by John Ford. (treat them as one movie) |
Only one character? I don't know about that. But......just watch John Wayne movies, doesn't matter which one. Pay attention. Think about what you saw on screen after the movie's over. Compare/contrast with the world you see you around you.
And realize that there was a time when most people grew up watching John Wayne movies and thought that what you saw on the screen is completely normal and reasonable. |
The Quiet Man
McClintock- Make sure you watch the extended version The High and the Mighty The Searchers The Cowboys The Shootist And honorable mention to Stagecoach, starring Claire Trevor. I don’t know what it is about her, but va va voom! Attached File |
