OP, why ask in GD when we have an AR optics section. THIS is what you seek.

That was my mistake, thanks for the link.

In regards to your first post, how would it not screw up the BBC?

Holy shit people, how hard is it to figure out what the OP is trying to do.

He ONLY HAS ACCESS TO A 25YARD RANGE IN THE IMMEDIATE FUTURE.  NOT 36, NOT 50, NOT 100.

He'd LIKE TO GET HIS ACOG set to  AN APPROXIMATE 100 METER ZERO in the mean time.  What mark on the reticle does he have to use to approximate a 100meter zero if he only has 25 yards to work with?

Jesus fucking Christ.

So you're saying he should zero at 100M using the 300yard post?

You spend a lot of time thinking about that?

Help me think this through.

I'll confirm down the road when I have access to 100m, but for a basic zero, do I use the 300m mark at 25y for the zero?

I do. gets me close enough that fine tuning it when i have a chance to get to a 100M range is short work.

That it works better to 250-ish is true for non calibrated optics.  If you have a cal'd ACOG and are using a rifle & ammo combination that matches, then it's not so true.

No.

I was in this situation when I was in the army. Aiming at 25m using the 300m hold will get you 'close enough'. But to be dead on using a 25m silhouette zeroing target, I aim the 300m hold on the targets 'rank patch' area, and will hit dead in the center of the target. So I suppose at 25m you should hit about 1" low (as someone above said) to hit correct for the BDC at further ranges.

This is at 25m not yards though I suspect the offset would still be roughly 1" either way, and a .223 calibrated ACOG (though correct me if I'm wrong but I believe 0-300m are the same on all but the freak ACOGS like 300BLK and their crossbow variants) and assumes a 14.5 barreled flattop shooting 855. Anything else will get weird.
