In a new world of streaming everything, and Covid shutting down theaters for 2 years, how many people are even going to theaters?

Of the people going to theaters, how many are going to see a rom-com instead of some bass-heavy action-y superhero thing?

Of the people wanting to see a rom-com, how many are interested in watching an hour and a half of homo stuff?

UCLA says that 3.5% of people identify as gay/lesbian/bisexual. My own opinion is that it’s greater, but what if it was as high as 10%? They’re not just gearing this towards 10% of people. They’re gearing it towards less than 10% of people who want to watch a rom-com, which is already a small percentage of people who want to go to the theater, which is already a small percentage of Americans.

Then cut that already tiny number in half again, as they’re just targeting MALE gays who want to go to a theater to see a rom-com about gay men.

They’re directing this towards a quadruple minority, a very specific very small group, and wondering why it didn’t do well? Blame bigotry I guess, that’s easier than admitting they had a terrible plan and of course it failed.

MOST movies fail anyway. They should have known this wasn’t going to make it into the Jurassic Park/Forrest Gump success file.
