wow.
Jay Leno has the first look at the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray - Jay Leno's Garage |

Honestly, the thing looks horrible in my opinion. View Quote I will say that while it certainly freshened the vette look and I'd actually consider one now (never would've before) and I'm generally pleased with it, the side view is not flattering due to the size of the intakes/rear fender treatment. It's just blocky looking and the design is too heavy on the rear and that's the cars worst angle. I'll wait to see one in person though. edit to add: holy shit, Jay Leno is looking OLD!!! Not really helping the corvette image there guys. damn. |

Nearly 500 horses from a NA 6.2 liter smallblock V8 ain’t bad!
I think it is badass. Sub 3 seconds 0-60 with 490hp? Wait until the turbocharge it and give it 1,000hp. This thing is a supercar killer.
Next year, at LeMans, they are going to destroy their class, including the Ford GT. Great job, Chevy! |
It looks like shit. Ive owned several Corvettes and this thing is hideous

That row of buttons is dumb as hell, everything except that is awesome.

Just drive the prices of the current C7 grandsport down enough.
I will get it cammed and tuned and be nearly 500rwhp and loving it. Used C7 GrandSports will be a very serious draw for me. |
I think it looks good except for the picture of the inside area I saw with all those buttons.
I think it's going to sell well for after seeing the base price and you're gonna see plenty of them on the streets |
I hard to make every body happy, but for me, this is a beautiful machine.
That's a lot of car for the money. It's easy to make a $400,000 car with those specs. Try to do it at $60,000... People are gonna love it or hate it based on looks... but that's subjective. The economics are not.

I think it's a good looking car, but it's not a corvette. They should've just released it as something else. View Quote But Chevrolet can't un-ring that bell, now can they? ETA: That shade of blue is not a good color. The factory name is probably "Bland Blue" |
I have been thinking of buying something evil fast...sub 3 seconds to 60? Oh hell yes.
I approve. I was thinking of a C7 though. My last vette was slow but fun. 1979 L82 4 speed with gymkhana. My TLX would destroy it. I will have to wait and see. |

"Shouldn't be called a corvette"
Go read up on Corvette designer Zora Duntov. My guess, every attempt at making a mid engine car wasn't "good enough" to be branded with GM's halo namesake untill now. An inexpensive enough electronic controlled DCT was likely the final piece of the puzzle. |

I agree with you 100% Great looking car, but just too far of a departure from the Corvette to carry the Corvette name. But Chevrolet can't un-ring that bell, now can they? Those talking crap about how that's not a Corvette etc. Do you even know who Zora Arkus-Duntov is?
I should add it looks like it will be evil to work on. I don't like the
engine compartment too much. Step one...remove 57 covers..... |
The first sports car that isn't a Porsche that I truly want to buy. Love the look and that blue is perfect.

I understand the performance potential with the auto but,
No manual transmission, no care. |

My memory goes back to the fanfare and introduction of the C4, which, as a 12-year old kid or so, was the coolest thing since sliced bread at the time as far as I was concerned. I still remember getting to ride in my older cousin's early C4 back about 1985 when digital gauges were awesome and everybody would stare when they saw it. I've owned a handful of Corvettes over the years since then and still have a couple of decent examples today. The C4 ZR-1 was cool for it's day, I felt the C5 was blah at the time (although I've grown to love it since then), for me the C6 was all about the wide body and the return of the "427" (in LS7 form, of course), and the C7 never really grew on me. This one, though, I find amazing. It's not the greatest looking car, but it ranks. As is normal with Corvettes, this is the base model and I'm confident that it will get better after a few years. What I appreciate most is that GM actually took the risk to do the mid-engine car. This is something that even Duntov couldn't get done. And they appear to have given it the respect and attention that it deserves, which makes me happy.

Can't believe Leno likes the button row
That's my only complaint though. Overall it looks great, is FINALLY what a Corvette was meant to be, and is going to hopefully cause some serious competition amongst other manufacturers |

Those talking crap about thata not a Corvette etc. Do you even know who Zora is? View Quote Early on, I was against mid-engined because I figured they wouldn't be able to do it without a starting price of $100k. A Corvette is supposed to be obtainable for the blue collar guy. Since they are keeping the starting price in the $60k's and mid-engined, that's a win-win. |

"Hey let's design and all new midengined Corvette! It will be a major turning point in the Vette brand, it will be historic!!"
"What do you want to do about the taillights?" "Ah fuck it, just throw some Camaro lights on there." |

Never liked Corvettes but this looks more McClarenesque...wood. I bet that aspirated V8 sounds awesome too.

It looks decent but doesn't stand out like early Corvettes stood out from the pack.

I really like the overall looks of the car and kudos to Chevy for making a mid-engine Vette.

I like it. A lot. The row of buttons is derpy, but the rest of the car is awesome.
I do get, and agree, that a mid engine car and Corvette just don't go together. It's not a Corvette. BUT, when they made mid engine Daytona Prototype race cars and labelled them as "Corvettes" a few years ago, the writing was on the wall. This WAS going to happen, period. All for 60k? That's flabbergasting from a value perspective. |
