I don't like Chevys at all but that car, except for the ass end (fugly), looks pretty good. And $60k? Wow. It won't be special though, when every white haired golfer dude has one in the retirement home.

Waiting for Mary Barra to tweet that they have 300k preorders.

As some of you know, I have owned a 2009 Corvette Z51, and I now own a 2016 Corvette Stingray. I am very critical of the C8 after seeing the presentation. The Corvette was always a capable car for a several days road trip. Or, you could pickup the groceries on the way back from the track. Now, the C8 cargo space is split between a frunk, and a somewhat larger space behind the engine. GM Engineer Tadge presented as having as much combined space as the current C7. And he showed a pile of luggage and claimed it would fit in the car. I maintain that Tadge's demonstration was misleading. Allow me to show why. Here is a picture of my C7 packed for an afternoon at the shooting range. Rifle case, large ammo bag that can also hold a pistol or two, and a day bag for binoculars and accessories. I've actually put several rifles in my trunk, + ammo and gear. Conclusion? Going to the range with more than a couple of pistols and an ammo bag? The C8 stays home. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.corvetteforum.com-vbulletin/500x375/48326298031_693ff839bf_9d9fae93899712bae03a2756397d4b5c5306f30e.jpg Some people don't like guns. That's OK. Do they like to go to the beach instead? Well, here is the C7 with a body board bag packed with 2 boards. There's a cooler, and look! We've got room left over for beach towels. If you're careful, you could put a couple of folding beach or camp chairs under the body board bag. Conclusion? Going to the beach with more than a couple of towels and a small cooler? The C8 stays home. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.corvetteforum.com-vbulletin/500x375/48326424627_06eca5d533_be2039ce05439c9ec79ed9827a3e125d4c4c9388.jpg The Corvette is America's premier sports car, but the Corvette doesn't just live at the track. Thousands of owners do more mundane things with the Corvette, like drive to and from work, and yes, picking up the groceries. You don't always think of your Corvette as a "grocery getter" but come-on, we've all done it! Here's the C7 doing duty as the grocery hauler. Going to the food store gets a lot harder if we plan on getting more than a couple of days worth of groceries. Conclusion? Going supermarket shopping for the family? The C8 stays home. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.corvetteforum.com-vbulletin/500x375/48326297406_4763de0af3_1884052c7098963b5a69bb82bf7dddec1bdc6074.jpg I say the Corvette was not just an awesome sports car, it was also a capable car for a several days road trip. Or, you could pickup the groceries on the way back from the track. In the presentations, we saw the C8 cargo space, split as it is between the front & rear, and strictly limited to small bags, means that Chevy is pushing the consumers toward the European pattern where the sports car is just another rich man's day tripper, and not a useful American road car. Looks great. Looks similar to the LaFerrari to me when seen in red.

I think you might be exaggerating just a wee bit. I'm not sure about the hard rifle case but it looks like you could easily fit soft rifle cases in the back of a C8. Only being able to fit a couple handguns and your range bag? Give me a break, you could probably put that in the frunk and have the entire trunk for rifles. I think you underestimate how deep those wells are. When I had my fiero I could fit all kinds of stuff in the trunk including weeks worth of groceries or going to the range. I show 3 realistic trips, and could show more, like the very real company trip I took in my C7 to an office in Minnesota. I had 4 Ethernet switches, several firewalls & APs, all in original boxes, along with a grip of network tools & a generous travel bag, all in the C7 trunk. After the job, I took a couple of days off to visit a friend in North Dakota, then blasted back down through ND & SD at (CoC) unmentionable speeds. That's life with the C7. The C8 would have to stay home, and I'd have to take a rental car to get the equipment on site. You can like the C8 for it's looks or HP, but otherwise, it's another damn European-styled day-tripper. Sad! |

I like the car
It is not a Corvette anymore though It has more in common with a Mc Laren F1, Or Ford GT, or exotic. The front engine Corvette is gone, the Camaro is about to be gone. I'm ok with all of this. |

I think the more I see it the more I hate it, maybe the z06 and zr1 will look better but Stingray looks like shit compared to a c7. The interior with all the stupid ass buttons will be redesigned within 2 or 3 years.
The performance is great but it looks like dog shit. |
|
Bet its going to be real fun to do general maintenance on it with engine in back.
Amazing performance for the price though. |

You smoking something if you don't think that looks like a bad ass super car, or atleast good looking super car. and to the "thats not a corvette dummies... the only "good" vettes were the 70's/pre 70's vettes anything newer is absolute hillbilly garbage. This last gen of vette was decent, but still had that hillbilly vette look. This new one atleast puts on the look of a supercar which it is........ for $60k!!!!! come on,, complaining about a $60k supercar is a little they have kia and hyundai sedans that cost nearly 60k. Tahoe and suburban are almost 60k

I will say that while it certainly freshened the vette look and I'd actually consider one now (never would've before) and I'm generally pleased with it, the side view is not flattering due to the size of the intakes/rear fender treatment. It's just blocky looking and the design is too heavy on the rear and that's the cars worst angle. I'll wait to see one in person though. edit to add: holy shit, Jay Leno is looking OLD!!! Not really helping the corvette image there guys. damn. View Quote I used to read his column in the car rags. He stumbled a bit on that appearance, recovered well, but dude was correcting him a bit. I haven't even had an inkling for a corvette until now. This is the year I believe they went from old man car to fun car. |

Everyones saying they copied off Ferrari/mclaren, but pretty much every mid engine car on the road looks the same.
