Make sure you have plenty of greasy t-shirts and sweat pants to wear while driving the POS. And don't forget the stupid "Zombie Response Vehicle" sticker on the back glass. View Quote Was he ever charged? Sentenced? Guy was a suspect of a couple of horrible crimes. |

what should I do to make it more awesome? View Quote Or a cop would have farted in the driver seat foam every work day, every shift. I'm talking about non-fresh, cop farts. I know I did. Check the floor pan. It probably has vinyl carpeting, or it could have actual carpeting. Either way, check if there were any holes drilled through for whatever: cage, laptop holder, rifle rack, and that any holes are sealed. |

That's fairly low mileage for that year.
Depends on what is wrong with it and what you want to do with it. iirc you can add cruise control on that one by simply adding a few parts and swapping out the steering wheel. Fix the rear doors and windows so they work from the back. Take the seats out, clean everything really good, install carpet, take out all the old cop wiring. Factory radio swaps if you want to ad a CD player is really simple. |

Love all the haters... Find the local mustang shop and have a set of 3.73's and a cobra spec trac-loc installed for less than a grand... That 4.6 will stay woke...change its entire nature....beat the hell out of it like you stole it for another 100,000 miles....

05 is the 1st year of Drive By Wire so not a lot to be done with a new throttle body.
P71 upgrades are oil cooler, trans cooler, heavier brakes, heavier suspension, frame gussets, Z rated tires, aluminum driveshaft, dual exhaust and 3:55 gearing. Everything else is grandpa fresh Crown Vic. The BEST thing you can do to pep up a P71 is gearing. Everything else is a waste because the cop 4.6 heads don't flow much. Turbo or superchargers are cool but tossing in an LS1 is way more powerful and a lot cheaper. Here is what I want to do to my 04 This is Peir from Montreal. He's perfected this swap Ford Crown Victoria 5 speed manual open exhaust live crown vic 5 speed manualswap progress part 1 |

Better hope it wasn't one that I drove - idle and wide open are the best ways to ride the 'ole vic's!

Mine had almost 190,000 on it when I sold it. Good solid cars. Changing the wheel covers and grill is the fastest way to remove the cop feel to it.

Thought about dropping a mustang super charger into it, but I want to use it for a few cross country trips View Quote I've taken my supercharged S197 Mustang on 2 cross country trips and many regional ones with no issues. BTW: you didn't win a Crown Vic. You simply paid more for it than anyone else was willing to pay for it. That doesn't mean that it's a bad purchase. If the Crown Vic has the 3V motor the first thing to do is check if the spark plugs were ever replaced. The 3v motors are notorious for breaking plugs when trying to remove them. |

That's a good year and mileage isn't bad. If they're not plugged i'd fill all the external antenna holes if it had any. Not too hard to swap stuff around on them. If the tires seem noisy throw something good like Michelin Premier A/S or Defenders on there. For the most part i'd just leave it the hell alone and drive it until the wheels fall off.

The Crown Victoria is one of the last rear wheel drive sedans made. 90k miles is nothing if they didn't patrol in a city with crappy streets. They are very easy to work on and I've got over 300,000 miles on a 98 and it still runs fine. You can buy parts for them really cheap online at places like Rock Auto. There is plenty of room around the engine and the radiator is easy to replace. They aftermarket parts market is huge because they have been making them for so many years. I would change the spark plugs first and foremost and have a spare ignition coil in the trunk. You can buy a set of 8 coils with the boot much cheaper than individually so check online for the best deal. The one problem with the CV's is the intake manifold gasket. The intake manifold is made of plastic with a built in gasket. It's cheap online but the labor is expensive to replace. With a well lit garage and some basic mechanical knowledge you can swap out the intake manifold easily if you watch a few online videos. They used to leak near the thermostat but the later models sometimes get a leak at the gasket and it leaks down in the valley and down over the transmission housing. keep an eye on your oil and fluids often. Front ends should be checked and greased when needed. You can get everything from new front grilles, tail lights and headlight assemblies at Rock Auto or other suppliers to give it a nice clean look. Everything is pretty modular and the electric window regulators are cheap and there are videos online that show you how to replace them. The front door windows are much easier to replace than the back doors.
