Finishing up my first AR pistol  build and need ideas on optics. Do I really  need one? I am more  of an Aimpoint guy than Eotech. Is an RMR Trijicon too small?

I stuck a set of the new Magpul Pro irons on it for now and just ordered  a TLR1 for the light.

Specs:

DSG 10.5 black Friday  upper

Seekins billet lower

PSA lpk

Jeff Reed Gtrigger #11

NB BCG

Fortis AFG

BadAss ambi lever

Still have to get an ambi charging handle and a sling. And some type of muzzle  device can adapter.

So I am thinking of getting  either an Aimpoint  PRO or ACO, or possibly an EXP2(?) Eotech. What's the  hive say?

A micro?
Eta. Didn't look past the picture. Get the aimpoint pro they can be had for cheap. I used the vortex with 3x mag but I'll go a different route on my current 10.5.

If you want to have something cheap. I love my sparc, for what it cost.

This is a 7.5inch upper. I'll probably get another sparc for my 10.5 inch build too.

T1/T2 for dot.

EXP2 for a circle.

SWFA Classic 1-4 for  zoom.

I run sparc 1's on my 10.5 pistol and my dissy. Great optic for the money.

Can't really go wrong with some type of micro red dot.

I have an Eothingy on mine. It strikes me that I don't want a sight that is way high on a riser because it's too easy to snag it or beat it up. My Eotech sits low on the flattop and is built like a tank compared to the RMR and most of the others.

I have an M2 on my 11.5". It's similar to the PRO in size. A micro would be nice for the weight and space savings, but gigantor works fine for my purposes.

Eotech as a RD goes but a 1-4x would be handy...

mine has a stamp, stock, and acog.  It's personal preference, I do not prefer red dots on rifles

The SPARC is a damn good sight for the money own two of them and bought my friend one all of them work and hold zero. The magnifier that comes with it is stupid but hey for the money who cares.

Mine is about the size of a 10.5 bbl with the KAK can on it.   I put an XPS 2 on it.   Handy little gun.

Vote number 3 for the Sparc. PRO would also be a good choice.

This.

I have not had an EOTech that didnt go to shit.

Seriously. Bought 3 512s, all of them have had problems. And I hear the XPS isn't much better.

I currently have a 1-4x24 on mine. I like it as the little 10.5" is still pretty accurate at range, but I admit its probably not as fun as a micro red dot would be.

EDIT: And its heavy.

I have Eotechs on my two AR pistols and I love them. I have Aimpoint T-1s which are great and the most durable RDS, but I pick up the reticle on the Eotech must faster. That should help since you don't have a Sig shoulder brace to help steady the weapon .

If Eotech had chevron reticle I would buy one.

Are they still owned by the  Freedom  Group? Does Soros own part of that concern?

Me, too.  I like them better than red dots.  But I can't justify the cash when I do have functional red dots.

I have a Millett  1x4x on my basic 16in gun. It has a dot and circle reticle and is lighted, similar to the Eotech. I like the thing but it is not very refined. It has held up we'll so far and is reasonably quick & easy to hit anything in range.

Stuck a Sparc  on it for now.  Forgot I had one on a 6920. Added a HO Streamlight from a different  AR and bought the Magpul sling at Cabelas to finish it sort of for now.

How are you mostly going to use it? I mean I wouldn't spend hundreds of dollars on the optic for style.

IMO aimpoints and eotechs have different roles.

Aimpoint = always ready (grab and go)
Eotech = duty/patrol (turn it on before you need it, whether it's for work or just walking your propert, etc)
